I can hear Donna Hannover cackling at this folly. Rudy believes those press clippings that he was the hero of 9/11...we now know he was as much a chickenshit and liars as all the other Repugnicans on this matter.

Now what does Rudy bring to this party? He sure is't going to bring New York's electoral votes with him...or any other East Coast state with him.

I'd love to see him run just to expose this hyprocrite for all this opportunist games and see how well that washes with his right wing hivemates.

While Democrats will look at some very strong, quality candidates in '08, the GOOP's bullpen and farm system are like the Chicago Cubs. Most wingnuts would rather vote in favor for a nutcase like a Hunter or Bauer. If Rudy does emerge as the candidate, I see a total schism in the GOOP ranks...with some third party candidate that will make our jobs in '08 a lot easier. Let's hope this scenario plays out.

Rudy G is about as tough on crime as they come, and it is crime that defeated the "liberals" over the last 30 years and brought the Right to power, and kept them there.

Maybe they are going back to their roots.

Crime, small government (except for police and prisons, of course), a tight budget and privacy rights (never mind what their personal quirks are).

He might be their best shot. After all, the crime freeps, back to basics conservatives and the mugged liberals may love him.

They will attack on all fronts and find the weakest link, and break it, whatever it is. This may or may not be it.
