their problem with him except that he has opposed ethical reform but they don't tell us exactly what reforms he opposed.

How do I know why he chose to oppose whatever it is they are accusing him of? Normally I agree with CREW but not this time.

Perhaps America should elect Ken and Barbie because they don't have any problems that I am aware of. No politician is perfect! Period.

I doubt seriously that Murtha would oppose reforms that are critical, or necessary, etc.

From what I read CREW didn't go into detail about this, they just repeatedly said that he has opposed ethics reforms whatever that means.

BTW if we dug out the skeletons in the Rethugs closets, the Rethugs in this administration and Poppy's administration we would find way worse. It's not a defense so much as it is a reality that there are no perfect politicians. IMHO

1. The Abscam Scandal of the 1970s. He was an un-indicted
co-conspirator for not accepting a bribe.

5. I don't know. A grand jury watched the ENTIRE film, and the house
ethics committee watched the ENTIRE film. Both refused to act against him. The public only got a few seconds sound byte in the 1970s. His move was for jobs for Jonestown, that's why he said he was there.

I remember there was a big dust up about FBI tactics. Was it entrapment? Don't know.

I understand that the full tapes (after 30 years) are showing up on...you guessed it...Free Republic.

We wanted to see what the grand jury saw 30 years ago. Could not. And now the tapes are available? I think that I'll pass on 30 year old tapes in the age of digital.

3. CREW usually makes sure they have a good case...
...with all of the ducks in a row before they go public.
Murtha has had a very long House career, who knows what rocks
will be turned over?

4. I think their "beef" has been somewhat exaggerated on this board
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 10:18 PM by Boo Boo
Someone posted earlier that CREW had put Murtha on their list of 20 most corrupt members, or whatever... but that doesn't jibe with my reading of CREW's statement. From memory, they had but 2 Dems on the list of 20, and Murtha was not one them. They put Murtha on a much shorter list of members to "watch." Their reason for doing that seems to be that Murtha was, according to CREW, directing military contracts to his brother.
