Missouri panel: Abortion partly to blame for illegal immigration
Mo. panel: Immigration, abortion linked

A Republican-led legislative panel claims in a new report on illegal immigration that abortion is partly to blame because it is causing a shortage of American workers.

The report from the state House Special Committee on Immigration Reform also claims "liberal social welfare policies" have discouraged Americans from working and encouraged immigrants to cross the border illegally. The statements about abortion, welfare policies and a recommendation to abolish income taxes in favor of sales taxes were inserted into the immigration report by the committee chairman, Rep. Ed Emery.

All six Democrats on the panel refused to sign the report. Some of them called the abortion assertion ridiculous and embarrassing. "There's a lot of editorial comment there that I couldn't really stomach," Rep. Trent Skaggs said Monday. "To be honest, I think it's a little delusional."

All 10 Republican committee members signed the report, though one of them, Rep. Billy Pat Wright, said Monday he didn't recall it connecting abortion and illegal immigration.

Emery, who equates abortion to murder, defended the assertions. "We hear a lot of arguments today that the reason that we can't get serious about our borders is that we are desperate for all these workers," Emery said. "You don't have to think too long. If you kill 44 million of your potential workers, it's not too surprising we would be desperate for workers."

You just can't make this stuff up folks

Did MO legislature really swing that far to the rightwing?
Oh well, as long as they don't try to make the case that it's "bipartisan"...

It's the Saucer People in conjunction with the Illuminati, they're the ones behind it. I have the proof in the same you have proof in your report.

Yes, we currently have a Republican legislature and govenore. I expect that will be cleaned out in '08. Most of the people in this state are fed up with Blunt and the Republican bullying, and will clean house in the next election.

Also, being from Florida, you really don't have much room to talk.

10. "To be honest, I can't say what I really think
because you would never be able to print it." Replace "a little delusion" with "batshit crazy" and you'd be closer to the mark.

I'm pretty sure the whole philosophy behind this report is "we'll come up with some cockamamie thing that supports our ideology, whether it makes any sense or not."

Sure. We're running out of workers because we're killing them all?

If you average out the number of abortions since legalized with the number of people who died of disease and such BEFORE the onset of modern medicine, I'll bet it comes to a fairly even point.

No, the problem with illegal immigration is that Mexico pretty much sucks and we've always touted ourselves the land of opportuntity. Everyone wants a better life.

What a bunch of dimwits.

11. "shortage of workers" = not enough poverty
The Right's hatred of abortion was never about "life", that's just what they tell the sheep. It's all about making sure there's a nice big underclass for them to hire from at low wages. Rich people aren't affected by an abortion ban since they can just take a "vacation" where it's legal.

Love that movie. I actually own a red Swingline. It's right next to my computer right now. Little bit of Trivia, Swingline didn't make a red version of their stapler before the movie. They just painted one to distinguish it. After the movie ran, Swingline was flooded with requests for their red stapler that they decided to make a special edition. Specifically aimed at nerds like me.

Have you read it?

How many PhD's do you have?

Just curious... I have a scientific background. Their methods seemed sound, and I try not to argue with numbers.

Numbers can't really be racist, anyway. Do you feel that stats showing that African Americans tend to make less money than whites are "racist"?

"That's all covered in the book" seems like a pretty simplistic response to a complex problem. If it's in print, it can't be wrong?

Check out this site. Seems they played pretty fast and loose with their numbers.

24. The Number Is A Lie, Too
There have not been 44 million elective abortions in the United States since Roe v. Wade. Per the CDC website, and the data in the Statistical Abstract of the United States, that number includes every single case of abortion, spontaneous, medical necessity, and elective. In other words, the lady who loses a fetus due to a car accident, counts in that number. The lady who must have an abortion because of internal bleeding due to a failing pregnancy, counts in that number. A lady who loses a baby due to some other medical procedure needed during a later point in the pregnancy is counte.

The 44 million is a made up number. In fact, when examining SAUS numbers from before Roe v. Wade, compared to those after, the actual number of medically safe, elective abortions is under 1/3rd of this value. So, apparently morality allows for lying if you think you have a higher purpose. Which makes these idiots guilty of moral relativism. But, of course, they HATE moral relativism.

42. They are probably too dumb to realize they as much as admitted that
the illegal alien labor is needed, then. In which case refusing to legalize them is in bad faith.

Yet those aborted people would presumably be doing the same jobs. No need to deport them. Or desire to. Because they presumably all would be white?

Let's just take all those welfare recipients - most of whom are children - and send 'em to labor camps. Good grief.
