Poll question: Who do you think will win the 2008 Republican nomination?
This isn't personal preference - but who do you think has the most likely shot of winning the Republican nomination in 2008?

I deliberately left out nutcases like Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo, who don't stand a chance.

9. There's no way. Nobody outside NYC knows anything about him.
Besides, America is not ready for a gay President. ;)

15. $5 billion can buy a lot of name recognition
if he's so inclined.
I hope he doesn't run.
I think he'd be a very formidable candidate.
But you might be right, maybe I've been living in NYC too long.

10. Bloomberg
has stated that he is happy as mayor and has no interest in a higher political office.

14. That's why I said If he runs
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 11:36 PM by Zensea
I didn't say he was going to run.
I think if he did run, he'd be a formidable candidate though.
Two reasons --
1) Net worth $5 billion.
2) He's fairly liberal and I will not be surprised if the Republicans start moving to the center, at least on the national level.

that was a joke!
I'm really sick of all the Joe bashing, but I'm not a big fan of Joe's either.

Anyway, if he switches parties, why not?

12. Taft!!
He has the experience to carry on in the * tradition. With his 16% approval rating as lame duck Ohio Governor and ethics convictions he's the logical choice for any Republicans who want to keep the status quo.

13. What about Connie?
She is well known, and would appeal to sectors of the voting public that the Republicans are weak in.

16. Either Romney or Gingrich - The loss of power will merely make them MORE conservative
and they'll character assassinate both McCain and Guiliani during the primary.

They hate Bill Frist's guts. Everyone does. He has no chance.

24. Does it matter?
If they have any brains, which I doubt, it will be some sacrificial lamb, like Dole in 96. Hard to believe they'll waste their time and money trying to reverse the pendulum that has no longer swings to right at all.

I'm not sure who we'll nominate but I can foresee a 49 state sweep - I can't see Utah going our way. Whoever it is, bring it on!
