I Think It's The Right Wing Who Is Building Up Obama as Presidential
They're still trying to play the race card. They always do. Every election. In one form or another. Don't get me wrong. Taking nothing away from Obama. I think he's a fine man. But something tells me they're setting him up because they know America is still far too racist to vote in a black candidate, particularly one with a name that resembles Osama so much. They also love him as a foil to Hillary, who they are dreadfully afraid of.

1. To be honest, I'm nervous about anybody we haven't seen here fighting for us.
People like Gore, Clark, Conyers, Dean...The types we know and trust because they have been really fighting for us and putting themselves out there. These are the people we know and love, and I'm nervous when the media tries to make us fall in love with strangers telling us they are shoe ins.

3. Hey, let's not run anybody in '08.
That way we won't be tricked into running somebody they want.

5. Bah. He's shiny and new and good on TV
The media whores love telegenic politicians and Obama delivers. He comes across as accomplished, smart, funny and an all-around decent guy. Who wouldn't think he'd make a good candidate?

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

6. I disagree. The right wing can't wait to get Hillary in 2008
"Fire up the culture wars, we got us another Clinton. And this one's a northerner. Hot damn!"

On the other hand, Obama will test America. He'll put his message out to the other side, and all but dare them to turn him away. And 8 years of Bush will leave most people wanting anything that isn't Bush.

If some lone crazy doesn't take a shot at him (which I think is what we may be up against), Obama could go all the way. I hope he does, anyway.

7. I agree
Something does smell fishy here. I believe that after a couple of terms in the Senate, Obama will make a fine candidate and most likely a great president. But there are still way to may racists who still have the right to vote (because they haven't been convicted of hate crimes, yet) to believe that is possible, yet. They are trying to divide the party because they're afraid of Hillary - as they should be! I'm still partial to my governor, Bill Richardson, but who in New Mexico isn't.

8. So the Democrats are incapable of winning the presidency
unless the party has full support of white racists?

9. I just had this discussion with someone else awhile ago.
A name too much like Osama. Black. Hillary foil. You're right when you say they will play the race card.....and they will convince dems that he'll lose because they want him to and then we'll be playing the race card too.

I think they do want Hillary to run, thinking they can beat her. 1. because she's a lowdown woman and the good ol boys don't want no woman boss. 2. because her name is Clinton and they hate nobody more than they hate the big dog. Personally I think she could wipe the floor with them, but not in the south.

13. So you're playing the race card?
This is the third DU post I have seen where a DUer is subtly attacking Obama because of his race.
