Who scares you more as a Presidential candidate, Rudy or McCain?
I would say Rudy. He's a younger, funnier, more energetic speaker that would appeal to many independant voters; and possibly some Democratic ones.

Rudy does have some issues; mainly marriage problems, being pro-choice, and being pro gay rights.

McCain, on MTP, was boring, looked old, and waffled when he spoke on just about every position. Clark, Obama, or Gore would have no problem making him look even worse when they're put side to side.

Now that George Allen is out of the picture, is there another Republican candidate that might step up and knock these two out?

1. Rudy -- he was a terrible mayor before 9/11
And considering how many REMAINS are being found NOW -- he pretty much sucks all around. I hope people bring this little ditty up ENDLESSLY when he starts his run.

7. Realistically, neither has even the remotest chance at getting the nomination.
The party's faithful DESPISE McCain. His late overtures to the Falwell crowd were seen as the bogus pandering they were.

Rudy seems like he's got 9/11 going for him, but the rest of the baggage that you mention is a total deal-killer with the right wing / religious loonie base.

Nope, I don't think we have to worry about either one.

McCain is disliked by the Republican base and if he runs he'll get bloodied up good in the primary.

9. Rudy can only run as an independent
There's photographs of him in drag, his mistress lived in the Gov's mansion, he roomed with a gay couple. There's no way he's getting the republican nomination.

Can a third party candidate do it? Only if we run a corpse.

11. Rudy is NOTORIOUSLY thin-skinned. Not great trait for debating. Also has
ALOT of film footage of him treating Bush as a God, Lord and Master. Same as McCain.

Also - Corruption was the major issue for voters in 2006, so Rudy will do poorly against an anti-corruption, open government Democrat.

19. Both and Neither
Both - because they both have gotten a free ride with the media and only the genial side of their personalities is usually shown. Both also have an iconic image of a hero - where there were genuine positives though neither was as good as they were portrayed. McCain was a pretty mediocre officer until he was captured, but he showed character when he refused to do what he would have had to Guiliani ignored calls to get the police and Fire departments on compatible communications for years and this did likley cause some unneccesary lifes. He was a control freak which fit perfectly in the aftermath though.

Neither - Both have very negative personal lives that will be used in th eprimaries. Also, it was clear that McCain has been bullied by Bush for 6 years. Rudy connections to Kerick and others will be used in the primaries. The GOP may turn there nastiness on each other, leading to a weaker candidate. MSNBC has been referring to Romney as a "popular MA governor", even though it's pretty clear he would have lost re-election. Or maybe they will run Huckabee.

20. An outsider who galvanizes the fundie vote.
Rudy can't make it past the Southern primaries, especially if one of his opponents has Rove or a protege of his on staff.

McCain has stretched himself so thin by trying to be everything to everyone that he couldn't handle a long campaign either, not to mention I'm sure it'll be actively discouraged for sitting Repuke Senators to run, because they'd miss votes and give us a de facto Joementum-proof majority.

However, if someone comes out of nowhere with really strong fundie cred, a clean personal life, and the willingness to be a little progressive on labor to steal some Democratic thunder, but not enough to really antagonize the big corporate money he'll start taking in once he wins the nomination, that is someone to fear. I think that's the only sort of candidate they can put up who wouldn't get crushed as bad as Dole did in '96, much less stand a chance of winning.

21. I'd like to take both of their hooked tails
tie them in a knot, and throw them over a clothesline and see what's left of them after that :)

McCain has NO MORE credibility, for christsakes he BACKS Torture (even while saying he DOESN'T) and RUDY TURNED Times Square into fucking DISNEYLAND.. all the Whores are dressing like SNOW WHITE and trolling for Dwarfs..

While Rudy may have APPEARED to tbe on the scene on 911, I prefer to think of President Clinton, in AUSTRALIA Flying all the way back, plunging into crowds for Group Hugs, while Rudy dragged Bush over (once he could FIND HIM, Bush was behind the toilet on the Air Force One staining his pants for about four days), to the tallest pile of decimated Human Bodies he could, handed him a Bullhorn and gave him an Old Timer Fireman for a sideman PROP.

So Bush could do that CHEER LEADING THING again that he does so well, standing on the Bodies of the DEAD to make himself look TALLER and Bigger, and tougher.

Thanks for that GHOULIANI, thanks a LOT.

Also NICE of Rudy to make sure that the CRIME SCENE was cleaned up and spread as far and wide as he possibly could before someone was able to FIND OUT what happened with some sort of Forensic Investigations.. the steel was GONE within a week I think, sent to Japan to make FINE Autos with trapped souls in them, and for MONEY.

Total Corruption, what else is new?

Myself, I would show McCain giving Bush that big old Hug and sloppy kisses and TIE that into how McCain didn't seem to have a PROBLEM with Bush's pals calling his WIFE a SLUT and a DRUG ADDICT, and the little dark girl adopted from Mother Theresa was called a 'BLACK LOVE CHILD' as well..

If McCAIN had any BALLS left he would have punched Bush out for that, but NO, he's a pussycat.. Reformer my ass.

I'm ready to run Video MADE by his captors where he REBUKES THE USA and compare that with how TORTURE DOES NOT PROVIDE INFO AT ALL if McCain RUNS.

And RUDY, well, he hangs out with GAYS while Bashing them.. nice guy (asshole).. Rudy is too creepy for Prez, won't work, fake Hero or NO.

23. Jesus Symbolman - I thought someone shit in my cheerios this AM.
You got me beat by a mile.

Your tagline for the McCain video regarding his family should read "John McCain didn't stand up for his family in 1999, what makes you think he'll stand up for America?"

No defense of that one - he'd be swinging from the rafters like he promised back in October.

do you work in film or activism? Sounds like you know a good tagline or buzzword when you see one, you SHOULD be working for the Dems, they could use clear thinkers like you on this stuff :)

No One shit in my Cheerios, there's no ROOM, it's full of Al Quada and they are in the Bathroom too, my wife checks each morning before I go into shave to see if the coast is clear :)

I felt sorry for the poor bastard in that camp, spirit broken, forced to DIS his own country..

But when he decided that TORTURE IS OKAY by him I Completely lost all respect for him. The only thing I respect him for at this point is that he adopted a poor little Mother Theresa Orphan, a good thing by anyone's standards.. but THEN to NOT stick up for his own FAMILY while Bush FLAYS him, even stealing McCain's Schtick on the campaign trail.. the morning after they'd used CHURCHES to SLAM his wife and call her a drug addict, Bush was out there with a BIG OLD SUBLIMINAL Supergraphic behind him..

"A REFORMER - WITH RESULTS."

NO SHAME at all - and what does McCain do after Bush WINS? GROPES HIM, hanging all over him, looking like a drunk that needs a buddy to drive him home.. totally DISGUSTING.

Appreciate the insights, You're GOOD at this :)

38. Thanks for the compliment.
The tagline occurred to me a few months ago - but someone beat me to posting it here.

I'd love to work for the dems - but I can't use phrases like "the fucking idiots in office." Or "Jesus-loving torturemongers."

For McaCain who knows, maybe after 5 years in a Vietnamese rathole he decided he liked the torture. Maybe that's why stuck around. If it was good for him (he's reaped the bennies of being a senator for quite a while), the brownskins will love it.

I'm more worried about jackasses like Sam Brownback or, God forbid, Rick Santorum. Ricky's got some rabid followers in this area (Pittsburgh) and Sam's undoubtedly got quite a few in his neck of the woods. It makes me wonder what this country would come to if someone like these nutjobs got into the White House.

As far as the cereal being overrun by Al Qaeda, I check the chimney each morning - W replaced a chicken in every pot with a dirty bomb in every chimney. After all, they're out to kill every member of your family. Every. Member. Of. Your. Family.

No wonder my daughter asks if we're all going to die soon.

22. Hillary and others could beat Rudy, I'm not so sure about McCain
Independents like both Rudy and McCain, but Rudy is an adulterer and he's pro-choice, which won't go over really well with the conservatives in the GOP. He would need a big moderate turnout in the primaries to win.

McCain is conservative-the freepers and others claim he isn't, but he is against abortion and is a Reagan republican. If he could convince enough of the base to vote for him, he will beat Rudy in the primaries.

I think Hillary could beat Rudy, and I'm not sure she could beat McCain. An Edwards/Obama ticket could run a good race against McCain.

Kerry needs to STFU and be happy in the Senate. Same with Biden. Gore, Edwards, Hillary and Obama are our best potential candidates, and we would have a good, competitive primary race between them.

The Bush-nut voters haven't gone away. They're still out there, and they're still as stupid and arrogant as always.

McCain is every bit the neocon-sympathizer that (Bush)-Cheney is, and then some. If we had a President McCain, it would be like a rerun of the (Bush)-Cheney presidency. There would be a return to the policy of wasteful imperialistic fraudulent wars. No way!!!!!!!

Hell, the idea of either of them as a presidential candidate makes me want to puke.

I personally believe that both of their potential candiacies have been overblown to a ridiculous proportion by the media and neither of them is all that tough. McCain's unwavering support for the White House Chimp was a huge mistake on his part and I feel he's going to greatly regret kissing up to him. Giuliani already has plenty of baggage from his days as a corrupt, bullying mayor (who cheated on his wife, no less). The media is attempting to erase the part of Giuliani's life that existed before 9/11 but it'll be sure to get coverage again should he decide to run.

Neither of them will win. They're both tainted. They both had affairs while married. McCain has the picture floating around of him and Bush hugging each other...DEADLY. Rudy was married and FLAUNTED his Mistress before he was divorced. Plus, Rudy has that Kerik issue to worry about. He and Kerik were VERY close. I'm sure there's more garbage to be dug up on that story.

I think naked McCain is scarier then a clothed Rudy. Or a naked Rudy.

However, if either one gets the nomination-I'll be surprised. Sort of. I see Frist picking it up a la Bob Dole in 1996.

In all seriousness, if I had to choose, I think McCain has the best shot of winning(naked or otherwise), so he's the scariest. With Rudy, they could just re-edit those old El Paso Salsa adds(it's from NEW YORK CITY) in the south. I don't think a New Yorker is going to carry the South-especially if the Big Dog is campaigning for the Democrat nominee.
