I was curious about something I read in materialman's freeper farewell yesterday about the banning of anyone at FR who doesn't march in lock-step (paraphrasing here) so I did a search over there for "banning" and found a thread that is quite hilarious in an ironic kind of way.

I like to discuss topics with anyone, whether they are Democrats or Republicans. I don’t really consider myself a Liberal or Conservative, but somewhere in between.
So I subscribed to DU to discuss things with them as well. You need to know all aspect of different people in order to really grasp our society and the way it works.
I entered a discussion forum about the National sales tax on DU.
I disagreed with much of what they were saying and made my points both positive and negative. They are mostly against the idea by the way, but thought I could clear some of their miss-information that many where saying.
I got banned, I guess for not toting the line.
I will give this forum credit where credit is due.
I have disagreed with people on here many times, but have never been banned for not thinking like everyone else.
I will always hold on to my individuality and stand by what I say. I can be wrong sometimes no doubt, and I will admit it when I am. But to be banned for disagreeing over something is beyond my comprehension.
I have my criticism of the web site sometimes but it is far better the DU.

Now, what makes this worth a giggle is the message you find when clicking on commonerX's name to view his profile.

"This account has been banned or suspended."

Guess he dissented over there once to often during his short stay. Doh! :banghead:

I was banned there the first time the day after the election. I had been a moderator and mole and had gotten up to 2000+ posts. I outted myself and gloated. I have a new mole on there that is once again over 1000 posts and should make mod status soon.

16. We did have at least one case of a mole making it to mod status

but it was a few years ago, right around the 2004 election. That's when they "outed" themselves. So, there's a good chance that this IS the person that was involved in that here.

It is not surprising a sad Freeper might spend months getting mod status so that they can have 15 minutes deleting posts before they get clobbered. But then again, maybe they are unemployed and 39 and living at home and feel the need to compensate with a powder play.

"liberal" position and have been on here a long time with lots of posts. whenever i see some say this garbage about du it is because they chose to be banned by going beyond in a disrespectful manner of some such. i have never had any problems with du adm. these posts are bogus
