I feel like I have an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other.
And all day long, back and forth, they argue with each other and try to influence my thinking!

Angel Bunny stresses conciliation, bipartisanship, outreach, etc. in order to take the high road and be better people than the R's. We don't have a huge margin and we've got a lot of work to do. Gridlock and partisan bickering will not be very practical. :dilemma:

Devil Bunny wants to take the failed policies, their smug condescension, their hatred and bile, and shove it up their big collective ass. Screw them, we'll be nice only after we've crushed the neocon demon once and for all.
:dilemma:

What to do, what to do?

I swear, I read GD each day and my mind changes on this subject as often as new threads pop up!

4. I go for a carrot and stick approach, myself
Shove that CARROT up their ass, and then say "SEE? THAT wasn't so bad compared to THIS!!!!" as you shove the stick after it!!!!

Actually, I'm not really serious about that...it was a wee cruel joke. We should every so often stomp on them, but not so often that their spirit is totally crushed. We'll hold our fire for when they start getting snarky or trying to talk over us on the television, hogging the debate with their usual shitty, shirty techniques.

We can reward them with cooperation when they work and play well with us, and beat the hell out of them when they don't. It's a better deal than they gave us, that's for sure.

5. Silly rabbit! You can have it all!
Shove it up their giant collective ass and make THEM be bipartisan for a change. For six years now, every time I heard the word "bipartisan," I knew the Bushies were about to stick it to the Dems but good and then accuse us of partisanship if anyone complained. So now the Democrats should smile and glad hand the craven wienies and talk about how bipartisan they want to be and then do any goddamn thing they want to and dare the GOP to do any partisan pissing and moaning about it.

The margin is narrow, but not daunting. It's not just the Democrats who want this war to be over. On most other issues there's a centrist Republican or two that can be peeled off, too. True, we occasionally see one of our own wander off the reservation, but I have a fair amount of confidence in Nancy Pelosi to be able to keep that to a minimum.
