It closed at an all-time high today. 12228 approximately on the Dow.
Hmm.

1. So, if the market goes up, do we get credit for it?
n/t.

3. As I said months before the election, the more likely a Dem win, the better
the stock market would do. Shortly before the election we hit a record high. And continue to. Why do you think the market crashed shortly before Bush was elected in 2000? Same, but opposite, reason.

9. A while back, I posted the Freaktardia thread on how the stock market
was crashing every time Gore said "count all the votes" and how the stock market was soaring every time that Bush beat back Gore, in Nov/Dec 2000 ... funny, it was pulled from FR shortly after the 12/12/2000 decision when the stock market started maintaining a downward spiral ...

I still have it on my own drive, though ... fun stuff from freeptardia ...

2. From the time it became obvious that responsible people were
going to lead Congress, it has been on an upward roll.

5. My money is it will be a mixed bag for the next couple of quarters...

Depending on several factors....Pharma and big oil may stall, alternative energy companies will gain, consumer & semi-cyclic will gain, etc.

Frankly, I don't think the market is all too worried about us (the dems) being in power... several other factors will have much more impact in the short term. In the long term, Dems are good for the economy just not so good for the corporations... it will be interesting to watch.

I will say that if we get a raise in minimum wage, plenty in the retail sector will be very happy.. likewise for energy research, capitol expansion, and a host of other things that increased spending delivers.

As for those that said it... a) I don't know who "they" were since b) the analysis I listen to are basically saying what I wrote above....

6. Oh, of course I agree but I just heard that apocolyptic scenario proposed by
so many wingnuts the last few weeks I thought to rub their noses in it just a little. :D

10. The Dow is not the economy.
It's merely a measure of how fast the rich are stealing from us.
