Poll question: Is it pointless to keep obsessing about Joe Lieberman? |
|
I don't believe in expending a lot of energy on stuff that I can't change. But maybe there is a reason to keep focusing on that DINO that I'm not understanding. Personally I don't think he's worth it. He will do whatever he will do. There's NOTHING we can do to change his actions, at least that I'm aware of. I contributed money to Lamont and supported him 100%, but Joe won. There are a lot of DINOs in Congress I don't like, but who got voted in by their constituents. Any Dem could switch parties in the Senate and change the balance of power. But it is a waste of time to worry endlessly about that possibility, IMHO.
However, if you think that there is a good reason to focus on this ONE person in Congress, please vote and post your reasons.

1. I trust the people of CT to keep an eye on him |
|
If he crosses the aisle, I predict there will be a recall petition circulating fairly quickly.

3. I agree - except a US Senator or Rep can't be recalled. |

10. Wow -- thanks for the education ... |
|
I thought any elected official could be recalled. Even if there are criminal or ethical charges against him? Do the constituents just have to wait for the guy to resign? This sounds like something the Founding Fathers would have taken care of in some way ...

anyone is "obsessing" about Lieberman, at least not on DU. I think people are discussing his status in regard to the democratic party. I think that's a good thing to discuss.

8. Joe is now making repeated veiled threats to go Republican. |
|
Joe's the one who keeps bringing this issue up, not DUers. Consider this a response to his continued threats.
He campaigned on a promise to caucus with the Democrats - a promise he's now breaking by threatening to cross the aisle.
IMHO, he should shit or get off the pot. But of course, he won't - he'll simply be a right-wing "Democrat" who has changed his views on nearly everything in the past two years, constantly attacking other Democrats and holding the threat of a Republican Senate over everyone's head unless he gets everything he wants.

No, I don't think the mods should kill every, or maybe any, Lieberman thread.
But I do think there is some obsessing going on.
I just question how long we should focus so much attention on this guy.

You should have seen this place during the Terry Schiavo circus.
Really, just get used to it. That's how DU is. Believe it or not, you are not the first person to complain about it. And I find your attempts to dictate the conversation here highly distasteful.
