"He knows too much,"
Rove to stay until end of Bush presidency

Despite being disappointed with Karl Rove’s election performance, President Bush has agreed to keep his chief political advisor for the remainder of his administration.

Administration sources said Mr. Rove has sought to stay with Mr. Bush until the end of his presidency. The sources said despite pressure on the president to reshuffle his staff for 2007, Mr. Bush wants Mr. Rove by his side.

"He knows too much," a source said. "The last thing the president wants is another published memoir and book tour of life inside the White House."

The sources said Mr. Bush was unhappy with the failure of Mr. Rove's election strategy, which focused on national security. They said the GOP defeat would probably lead to a different relationship between the two men.

For his part, the president appeared to blame Mr. Rove for the Republican Party’s election strategy, based on the notion that there would not be a significant swing vote. In a jocular tone that accompanied a steely gaze, Mr. Bush portrayed himself as working the campaign circuit while Mr. Rove sat in the White House strategizing.

"I obviously was working harder in the campaign than he was," Mr. Bush said of Mr. Rove.

9. Rove's strategy has been to scare people and then promise
security. He can't seem to think beyond that. Isn't this what is called a one trick pony? It's not surprising though. If there is one thing that I have observed about conservatives is their inability to think outside the box. Once they get a brilliant idea they can't let it go. They can't think beyond it or around it. All they can do is elaborate on it.

10. has anyone mentioned the name of that other woman from texas (what is her name)
Edited on Tue Nov-14-06 08:56 PM by flordehinojos
who was in Bush's first Cabinet and then moved back to Texas because her family was homesick for it?

How could I forget her name? (You know, then she went on to some "change the hearts and minds" of the iraqis (or middle easterners) work.

How come no one has mentioned her name this time around.

edited to add: KAREN HUGHES! I just remembered that name. How come she wasn't around this time around? She got a lot of the credit for 2000 and 2004 I think I remember.
