Dumping Dean would be like firing the trainer after your horse won the Triple Crown
I've been away a while so I haven't had a chance to comment on the Carville suggestion that Howard Dean should be replaced.

Only a Democrat could actually suggest getting rid of the party chairman after the party winning the Senate, House and Governor's races.

Fortunately Carville's suggestion that Harold Ford replace Dean doesn't seem to be getting a lot of traction within the party--or from Ford himself. No one seems to be ready to form up the circular firing squad just yet.

Dean gets to keep his job and continue doing what he's been doing and that's a good thing.

1. Carville Has Always Acted Like a Spoiler
He seems to want to get things thoroughly F so that he can come in and be a hero and fix it.

Seems to me that a good steady worker like Pelosi, or a competent executive type like Dean, is worth a whole lot more to a project.

2. Put another way, we won EVERYTHING, and lost NOTHING, at stake in this election...
and the clown wants to replace the person responsible.

Dude is a fucking moron.

3. Carville must want some influence over the process that is not needed
with Howie in charge.

Dean has led us to victory with a smart and ethical method. I vote he remains as head of the DNC.

6. My theory is he would prefer a more "pro-Clinton" Chairman
Remember, when they were voting for Chairman, several prospective presidential candidates, including Hillary Clinton, tried to put their pals in the job.

They may be concerned about Dean's objectivity regarding the Clintons--not only bad feelings remaining from the 04 primaries but also the possibility that he might actively favor another potential candidate.

If I was Hillary Clinton I would not be thrilled about having a party chairman who had not only strongly opposed a now disastrous war that I voted for, but who was also a friend and ally of Al Gore.

8. It's all about pro-Hillary right now
The Murtha swift boat, Steny Hoyer endorsed by DLC, Jane Harmon on the intelligence committee, attacking Dean - it's all about setting everything up for her to coast in as the primary candidate. It's so obvious, it's annoying to me that DUers can't see it. And *I'm* the centrist traitor freeper troll. :eyes:

14. Not to mention the Dems who joined in the attacks on Kerry
My guess is that most people in the party are pretty happy with Dean right now but there are those who've been running the show for the past few years are less than thrilled.

Fair enough, I guess, Hillary Clinton supporters have a right to make their opinions but other people need to see them for what they are.

5. Let's Count The State Chairman Who Know Dean Vs. Carville
Like all those governors and state legislators who got DNC assistance this year they hadn't in years past. How many have a personal relationship with Dr. Dean where they got the voice mail in the Terry McAuliffe days.

Fortunately "Corporal Cueball" sits comfy inside the beltway and hasn't really run a campaign since Clinton. He's still playing a chess game that ended with the stolen election of 2000 and has lost both his hunger and political radar. He's like many others the parade passed by last Tuesday...bitter and resentful.

7. I'm really puzzled why Dean is getting virtually no credit for this
win. If he hadn't persisted in his 50 state plan, we'd still be in the minority. I'm convinced of it. Mary Matalin must be brain washing Carville in his sleep.

10. Harold Ford, jr. was a Sponsor of the Crowning of Reverend Moon
a few years ago when Moon Was Crowned "Emperor of Peace" (or some such thing) in the Dirkson Building on Capitol Hill.

Do we want a Reverend Moon supporter as head of DNC? What the hell is going on with Carville? When did he make this statement for replacing Dean as head of DNC?

13. It's a MINORITY of people in our party who want Dean out.
They got used to calling the shots for all of us, and now that they've been proven irrelevant, they don't want to abdicate the throne. Well, fuck them. They led us to THREE CONSECUTIVE LOSSES IN MAJOR ELECTIONS. Dean handed us a landslide in one. They're fired, and they can cry about it as long as they want.
