Chris Shays is the last remaining GOP congressman in New England!
A recount in CT gave Democrat Courtney a 91-vote victory in CT, leaving Shays not only the last GOP congress person in CT, but in all of New England! We'll take him out in '08.

I'm tired of hearing how the Democrats can't compete in the south. The fact is that there is only one sectional party in the USA--the Republicans. The only region of strength they have is the south--and even there Democrats have more than just a handful of people in the House and we just won Governorships in Ark, VA (in '05)and TN. We also won the Senate race in VA and came close in TN. OK and MO are more border states but we won a Governor's race in OK and (of course) the Senate race in MO.

Without the south the GOP would be going the same route as the whigs.

1. Even Maine & New Hampshire are all Dem?
This is the best news I've heard since Election Day!!

By the way, would you happen to know how many House seats are still undecided?

12. I predicted NE going Dem a few years ago. Since the south turned...
Repug as a result of their outrage over Kennedy and Johnson leading the way on Civil Rights. I always thought New England would not stand for the current brand of souther Repuglicans. Their bigotry, narrow mindedness, and hatred don't seem to sit well with New englanders.

I thought it might take 20 years or so but always thought NE'ers would bail on the hate group know as the Rethug Party.

I believe there's a DU guideline about looking for threads first, before you inadvertently post a duplicate?

EDIT: Here it is.

14. I don't really care for 15 different "Rummy resigns" threads.
And I try not to perpetuate them. IMO, nothing, regardless of importance, needs to be said 15 times.

17. Not asking for an apology....
But I do tend to avoid posting redundant obvious threads.

Besides, your comment about the South is simply incorrect. Arkansas, of all places, has only one GOP congresscritter left. Mississippi has 2 left. The solidly red states are the Plains states, as another poster here put it. States like Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

22. You didn't read what I said then
I said that I'm tired of hearing that the Democrats can't compete in the south and went on to point out all the places in the south where we are competitive. Yes, I did see the comment from the other poster regarding the plains and agree.

But I do thank you for all your posts on this "redundant obvious thread" which has kept it afloat. I also hope that you get over it and accept that once in a while somebody will post a similar thread especially if somebody didn't know it had been posted already. God forbid anybody else do this to you.

The plain states are FAR more red than the South.

I think you need to go back and look at some of those blue/red maps, hon.

Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 02:08 PM by WI_DEM
the pundits say that we are not competitive in the south and I pointed out all the races we won. I perhaps didn't express it well. But I like what you say--the GOP is only competitive in the plains! That's even better.

20. I think it must be all the time the people in the plains spend
hiding in their root cellars from the twisters... keeps 'em out of touch. ;-)
