Democrats have a responsibility to pull Bush's nuts out of the fire?
..in Iraq? We are there because of George W Bush and he only. That is a fact. He lied us into a war. He unilaterally invaded on false pretenses. And now he and the Republicans have the gall to say, "The Democrats have no plan".

How can anyone have a plan to put something back together that is broken into 3000 pieces? Mr Bush broke it but we all own it? Because we are Americans and it would not be right or patriotic to simply say "Bush fucked up"? So, now we have to accept responsibility. Well, this is one Democrat that is not ready to accept responsibility or blame for what may go wrong in Iraq.

Yes, we can do our best to fix Bush's fiasco, but we should not adopt it as a cause of the Democratic Party. We will do our best to fix Mr Bush's disaster but we will not accept blame for it. Bush was warned and he ignored the warnings. So, let's all share the blame? Not!

3. I totally agree
I was listening to Tweety last night and he asked WHY the Republicans should help the Democrats?
I mean, :wtf: ?
This is THEIR mess. Democrats were NOT privvy to the intelligence they tossed out while cherry picking what they wanted to give.
We will GLADLY attempt to clean up this REPUBLICAN mess, however, only because it benefits the country, not because it benefits the Republicans.

4. And do not accept the blame...
We can try to clean it up but it is not a Democratic "mess".. Let's not let them get away with that.

5. No.
The dems will clean it up because if they don't they will get crucified in '08. Doesn't matter who started it, it's the one holding the bag who gets sent to to the pricipal's office.

We gotta fix this to prove that we can lead the country in a better direction or we are gonna be ou of office.

Sucks, but it's true. The public memory is not a long memory. And the dems are too whipped (still) to keep hammering home the point: we're there because of pugs here, and the pugs fucked it up SO BADLY that we cannot fix it in a mere 2 years.

8. Ummm...last I looked?
George Bush is still in office holding this big sack of steaming shit that he started.
You do realize that it won't be "fixed" by 2008?
Jesus Christ himself couldn't do that. It is too broken.

They can grab bush's nuts with one of these:

Then, he can be suspended from the roof of the congress whilst
investigators inquire to any pain he might sense.

9. The Democrats have the responsibility of pulling both Bush and Cheney
...out of office and slamming their nuts and their asses in federal prison. Then we pull down the neo-conservative/fascist Venetian style Synarchist bankers out of positions of power by re-establishing constitutional government and law in the U.S. From there we can resolve all of the middle-east conflicts to the mutual and moral benefit of humanity.

10. "Democrats don't have a plan for Iraq."
Frankly I would rather they have a plan for America. A plan that saves American lives and American tax dollars. A plan that puts the welfare of American's first and the welfare of Iraqi's second with the legacy of George W Bush dead last.
We can't fix Bush's screw up and make him come out smelling like roses. That's not our job or our concern.

It should be made very clear who was responsible for getting us into this mess and who will be getting us out.

13. And what 's the best way to pull nation's nuts out of the fire?
Do we stay in Iraq until George W Bush is satisfied? Who declares the parameters for victory? How many lives are we willing to sacrifice for this cause? 25,000? 58,000? What if it gets worse, rather than better?

12. We have a responsibility
We do have a responsibility to approach the subject objectively. Too much of the discussion is driven by opinions on Bush. It's not just his problem; its our problem and we need to address it in that context if we are to solve it. Doing the opposite of whatever Bush wants is not going to have the best outcome, nor is doing whatever embarrasses Bush the most.

21. It's a little LATE for that, since the B*sh policy has already created FAILURE.
Operation Enduring Occupation is already an utter, abject DISASTER.
Get a clue.

25. Oh, so suddenly it's "public opinion" you're talking about? Nice try...
...but I'm not buyin' it.

When kentuck asked, "So if we fail in Iraq,
it is the Democrats fault?
"

You replied, "That could happen. If our policy
is the one that results in failure, then yes!
"

Seems like a pretty clear statement that Democrats
might be responsible for FAILURE. A statement based
upon the notion that FAILURE has not yet occurred.

I see no mention of "public opinion" there; no sign
that you are talking about public perceptions
being manipulated toward an incorrect conclusion.

Given some of your other statements here, most notably
your opinion that a prone, handcuffed man being TASERED
was "lucky he didn't get worse", I think most DUers
will understand when I choose NOT to get my CLUES from _you_.

Good day.

16. We have a responsibility to Americans first.
We have a responsibility to see that no American soldier dies to save face for an incompetent president or his political party. This isn't about Bush. This is about taking care of our country and our people, something the GOP seems unconcerned about. If it means that Bush and the GOP end up looking foolish then too bad.

15. Might we try to ...
shovel the "3000 pieces" into a neat little pile in order to show all that this is the convoluted puzzle the shrub has presented us with?
I agree with you that we can't be expected to fix the problem. Foreign policy is not legislative in nature.
We simply need to be able to show the voters the magnitude of the problem - the puzzle's complexity.
We cannot politically de-fund the current actions. That's exactly what the opposition party desires of us.

...O...

That's part of being an American, facing that fact. It is OUR mess and we have the responsibility to CLEAN IT UP. PERIOD.

If you don't like that fact of life, go start a country somewhere else.
