BushCo's EXTREME arrogance: Yesterday RE-nominates 4 far RIGHT Judges!!
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 03:13 PM by RiverStone
One would think that after the rethugs got a major "thumping" last Tuesday, that BushCo would have taken heed of the message. NOT! He mentioned something about bipartisanship when he met with Nancy Pelosi last week on the hill. Obviously, that was just window dressing.

One of the judges was an aid to Jesse Helms, another was deemed unqualified by the American Bar Association, another a strong anti-environmentalist....:grr:

http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2006/11/15/one-more-time-for-judicial-nominees/

Harry Reid has been saying that the DEMS won't treat the rethugs like the GOP treated the DEMS (while in power). Nice gesture Harry, but if Bush refuses to even attempt to moderate his far right position(s); it will only be received by the new congressional leadership as obstruction.

For the better good of We The People, Bush needs to remove himself from the center of his own narrow minded universe. So far anyway, he has not budged an inch! What EXTREME arrogance.

1. I can't imagine
anyone would be surprised by this. This is Bush**. He wants what he wants and by god he will get what he wants. Now come on Dems, do your thing. Make the little jerk learn what it is like to not get his way. It is the best for the country.

2. If they don't bring these judges up in the next few weeks, then ...
... they come up under the dem senate - and hopefully, get shot down under the dem senate. Unless his plan is to give them recess appointments between the end of this congress and the beginning of the next one. But, if he does that, the dems should refuse everything he asks for after that.

5. I think that's exactly the plan: recess appointments.

Just like he's done repeatedly.

He and every idiotic media whore can shove their lectures on how dems need to be bipartisan straight up their @$$.

11. I'd be perfectly happy if he made them recess appointments.
The appointments would only be good until the start of the next Congress -- next January. They can't do much harm in the next six weeks. He can't get them through the Dem Senate, and a second recess appointment means they don't get paid. I'm sure they'd LOVE that. And I don't think they could acdept "donations" from right wing groups in lieu of salary. That would virtually assure impeachment.

4. His idea of bi-partisanship is everyone doing what HE wants
I honestly believe he doesn't know of any other definition. There is no other explanation. He thinks if he bullies people into doing what he wants, he has 'crossed the aisle'. Of course, nothing is further from the truth, but there is no other explanation.

6. Last minute push to get his noms through before Dems take over Congress.
It's to be expected. However, I think he'll probably have even less success this time than the last. Certain representatives up for reelection in '08 will think twice about siding with Bush again. It's obviously become a losing strategy.

And I think the Dems have been encouraged by the midterm election to stand firm in rejecting these nominations. I wouldn't put it past Reid to conduct another filibuster, if warranted.

7. Maybe no one told Bush that the Repubs lost the House and Senate?
He hasn't cahnged a bit. He's still calling the shots as if nothing happened a week ago. Will the Repubs still stand behind this moron?

12. I'm not sure he can count on the votes of the Republicans who lost
because he lied about Rummy. Not sure he can count on their votes at all.

8. I guess Bush needs another "thumpin'" from the Dems.
It is perfectly clear to me that bipartisanship to Bush is everything goes his way, nothing goes the way of the Dems. And the Dems should know this, especially after the last six years.

Harry Reid may want to reconsider what he said, if the Dems play nice they're going to wind up with cat shit in their sandbox. And we'll all know who put it there.

Start some investigations and get the illegal thugs out of office already!

10. that's okay. He'll be wearing his ass for a hat when we
recess appoint all the bench vacancies, all at once. And we really, really really need to do it to make a point, or else shut down that privilege altogether after we've taken full advantage of it.

14. Wonder how the repugs are going to feel if Reid decides he needs
to push the nuclear option? If filibuster was just a "quaint notion" for the last six years I'm sure they will get on board to having their last chance at governing strip away from them immediately upon the Dem taking the reins.

Come on, Harry, hit that button and blow the repugs' arrogance to smithereens the first day you are the Speaker of the House. This has the possibilities of a three ring circus shoving the repugs hypocrisy back down their throats.

16. I'd like to paraphrase Tom DeLay
Bush's idea of bipartisanship is that the Democrats buy into his partisanship.
