Poll question: Would you tell Hillary not to run in '08 if given the opportunity? |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 03:42 PM by Perky
The country has a tendency toward divided government.
She has new found power as a majority senator.
The right wing will be out in droves to defeat her
The early primary calculus is not in her favor (IA is Vilsack's, New Mecico is Richardson's. NH is a crap shoot wit h a crowded field...SHe would not win the first SOuthern Primary... She has to wait until SUper Tuesday for her first win. But if someone wins two out of the first four...They have the momentum.
Her candidacy probably unfractures the right wing (rightly or wrongly) and puts at risk our ability to improve our majority position
I personally don't think she has "the fire in her belly"
I am not sure the party leadership DNC or DLC thinks she can win.
So here is the question.....She may go on another "listening tour"...what would you tell her?

5. Your poll results are consistent with Hillary's standing on DU |
|
I'm in good company here at DU; where consistent majorities in every Hillary for Pres? straw poll resonate with a NO!
Lots of respect for her - YES. Possibly a great Secretary of State - YES. A leader in the Senate -YES.
But at least on DU, not many want her to even attempt a Presidential run. I've heard we (DUers) represent the left wing of the Democratic Party. If thats true, then I sure wonder who are these DEMS that want her to run???

7. Sort of reminds me of Bush in 2000 |
|
supposedly wide open race and the suddenly all momentum swings to one candidate out of the blue.
I don't think anyone really support her other than Carville and the MSM.
