Bush's approval ratings plunge, disapproval rises after elections
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 04:07 PM by civildisoBDence
George DUHbya Bush's approval ratings are down and his disapproval ratings are up in the wake of the Democratic landslide.

The difference between his approval and disapproval ratings is up to 29% (33% approve, 62% disapprove) and 32% (31% approve, 63% disapprove), respectively, in new USA Today/Gallup and Newsweek polls. That's the largest difference seen since last summer.

Poll data here

Could it be that many who feigned approval before the election are now willing to admit they, too, disapprove of Bush's incompetence?

Speaking of numbers, could it be that the groundswell of anger generated by Bush's handling of 1. the war, 2. Katrina, 3. torture, 4. wiretapping, 5. rendition, 6. secret CIA prisons, 7. signing statements, 8. habeas corpus, 9. separation of powers, 10. checks and balances, 11. the Fourth Amendment, 12. the budget deficit, 13. the trade deficit, 14. the national debt, 15. global warming, 16. stem cell research, 17. tax cuts for the rich, 18. a minimum wage increase, 19. port security, 20. border security, 21. bin Laden, 22. North Korea, 23. Iran, 24. Israel's massacre in Lebanon, 25. America's moral authority in the world, and on and on is finally getting through even the thickest of skulls?

Throwing Rumsfeld under the bus and calling in the GHW Bush braintrust doesn't seem to have appeased anyone--on the contrary, it may have been the first sign that even the administration now realizes how badly it has damaged the country.

The president's spirits seem to be dropping as rapidly as his approval rating. Could it be that he's finally getting a glimmer of what he's wrought? Could the truth be getting through the thickest skull (and bones) of all?

1. Support for the Rs has been a mile wide and an inch thick.

The middle was scared by bush for 5 years, but Katrina revealed all. As people get more comfortable
with the Ds, bush's numbers will slide to the low 20s.

12. You'd have to be pretty stupid or woefully (and willingly) uninformed
to be scared of bush.

3. Good question--how low can he go?
How low can his approval ratings go, that is. We KNOW how low DUHbya himself can go.

I'd ballpark it at low 20's also. There are those who will at least claim to approve of his performance no matter what.

They're called "loyalists," though I can think of some better descriptions...

6.  Who are those 30%? If you saw BORAT, you know who they are.
The ones at the rodeo and at the megachurch, and the frat boys. There's your 30%.

That anemic approval rating means * has lost just about everybody he's gonna ever lose because 30% of Americans will stick to him until hell freezes over (and they don't realize how cold it already is down there). In other words, he is at rock bottom. Nobody but the seriously deluded likes that cat.

Good enumeration of soooooo many asinine moves and inexplicable paralysis of this ass backward admin. Throwing R*mmy under the bus didn't appease jack. In fact it pissed people off that he didn't do it before the election to show that Repugs are not really actually staying-staying-staying the course. Ha ha. It blewup in his face. Too bad.

7. For many its the football mentality
Bush is like a coach, and he lost the war, so its time to fire the coach and hire a new one, so we can have 'victory'

Probably 20% of the electorate is like that anyway

11. And Poppy "bestrode the world like a colossus" with a 90% approval rating
right after Desert Storm. DUHbya hit 89% after Shock and Awe (don't you just love the PR names they dream up?)

Like father, like son.
