Sigh...not even 7 days after our tremendous win and we are
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 05:11 PM by xultar
devouring own.

It's sad really.

We never bought into the MSM lies about our own before and now alls of a sudden everything the MSM reports or says we eat it up.

Just an observation. But it looks pretty freakin sad.

1. Thank you for your concern.
I'll go back to watching Kent Conrad rock the Senate.

4. Well, I don't think it's entirely unhealthy.
Just like a good primary battle sometimes forces one candidate to hone his/her skills, these debates might be good for us in the long haul.

Who knows, though...

11. Democracy is noisy, smelly and untidy.
Stand at a safe distance if you're uncomfortable.

16. The attempts at censoring each other are not democracy.
Plurality of views is.

19. Anyone advocating limiting the debate here...
...is attempting censorship. While I don't object to the rules of the board as I understand them, let's be clear about what we're doing when we complain about "what we're doing to ourselves." It's just a message board.

7. Oh, heck, we all knew the circular firing squad would quickly regroup.
I was hoping it wouldn't happen -- at least until a bunch of Dems had declared their candidacy for '08 and we could all go back to,

"Your candidate SUCKS!"
"Does NOT! Your candidate is really a Republican!"
"Oh, yeah? Well, YOUR candidate couldn't get elected dogcatcher!"
"Oh, yeah? Well, YOUR candidate is a DLC tool!"
"Is not!"
"IS, TOO!"

I guess we're just getting a head start by beating up on people who aren't even running for President. (I do reserve the right to bust on James Carville, though.)

8. IMHO that's just wrong thinking. The democratic party is a coalition
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 05:21 PM by HereSince1628
that's a consequence of having the really big tent we always puff up about.

Each member of each group in the coalition has Rights, guaranteed by the Bill of Rights, to be able to petition for the government to get it right in the eyes of the members of each coalition. To do that we must accept that all these coalition members can petition representatives who belong to their own party. And the representatives must act in ways they think is best for the folks they represent and the nation.

This is absolutely democracy in action.

Why oh WHY would we EVER ask Democrats to sacrifice their Constitutional Rights for the sake of unity? Asking that is absolutely crazy NEW DEMOCRATist!

9. I personally wish you did not see it that way.
This is the way it works to settle things out. It is so much better to get it all shaken out right now instead of waiting 'til next spring and really creating problems.

Politicians have to be ego maniacs who believe if they died tomorrow, the world would stop in its tracks. Government couldn't survive without them.

The biggest dog has to give the marching orders and that issue is the one being sorted out.

21. Nah!
This is good, normal, healthy debate. When it dissolves into personal attacks, then's it "devouring."

And I'd much rather see this than everybody devolve overnight into a bunch of drones in lockstep -- like that other site.

22. I guess we are more likely to take ownership of this win..since we
worked & argued so long and hard for it. Intead of just a few politicos ..there are now millions of us active!!! And the ones on the internet don't follow any established hierarchy in Washington or in Dem offices - cause we have no career to loose.
