Murtha / Hoyer... all you need to know
is that Tucker is swiftboating Murtha as hard as possible right now.

Right now he is perpetuating the lie that Murtha calls ethics rules "crap" (which Murtha did NOT do).

Remember the botched joke from Kerry.

Remember that "Gore claims to have invented the internet."

Tucker is crap.

Just said that Murtha was an un indicted co-conspirator (which is a lie, Murtha would not have been charged with any conspiracy charges).

1. Hoyer co-authored the Americans with Disabilities Act.
And last time I checked, Tucker Carlson is not responsible for picking our party leadership.

There is no "all you need to know" when it comes to politics.

2. I never watch the little bigot anymore. Murtha's the popular one:
Americans know he was the only one to demand a return of the troops.

Murtha's been around too long for the 3rd grader on MSNBC to do him any harm.

3. Murtha is Bush's worst NIGHTMARE and the corporate MSM have received
their swiftboat orders from KKKRove. Luckily, the House Dems know the MSM is NOT on their side. They can see through the bullshit. Murtha will win. If Tucker's against him...that just cements my support for him.

4. Murtha's gotta get in front of a camera and say,
"Who's gonna listen to Carlson anyway? America voted him off that dancing show as fast as they could."

7. I love it... how much of a hero Murtha was around here
when he was speaking truth to power. Everybody was gushing over him then... now he wants to move to what is likely to be his highest office in Congress, and look what is happening to him HERE, by some on DU. And who really doesn't want him to have the post? Is it the DNC, the DLC, us here in blog world? NOPE... it's the administration. Rove and Cheney and Bush. And they have all of the sycophants all over the cable world, spreading lies about Murtha.

It's just pissing me off.

9. That wasn't all he said
He went on to say not at this time and that he had to be careful because appearances were important and he expected to be part of the leadership in the future.

I don't care who the Majority Leader is, plus not a one of us here has a vote. But if we are going to divulge information, let's divulge all information, good and bad.

10. That's utter bullshit. He DID NOT say that.
Did you watch the entire tape? I did and I listened to everything he said. You can see my analysis here:http://journals.democraticunderground.com/berni_mccoy/127

11. Actually I watched it just this morning on the national news
or are you saying that the national news media 'dubbed' the tapes to make it seem like Murtha said it.

13. and he must not have said...
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 07:43 PM by Debi
MURTHA: Listen, I admire him, and he gets things done too. Let me tell you something -- he gets up and talks for Somoza, people that are unpopular, he went to school with Somoza at West Point, so he doesn't give a shit. And I have it a little different. He doesn't expect to be in leadership, I have to be more careful. That's what it amounts to. I expect to be in the fucking leadership of the House. And you have anything said against you then you've got a problem. So you've got to be able to justify it. And I'm just avoiding having any problems, what it amounts to. And I'm delighted to do business with you. Shit I do business like this all the time to get companies into the area to get business into the area. Nobody's quite as generous as you guys have been, but, ah, I understand it.

(It's at minute 46 of the 53 minute 40 second video - go back to minute 46 and tell me he didn't say that - then swear at me some more, please).

+++++++++++++

You're presuming I have a dog in this fight, and I don't. I really don't care which one of them is the Majority Leader. My representative has already said who he is voting for and I don't have a say. But, since you seem to REALLY care about this issue, I'll let you keep fighting away. It's only important to one of us in this conversation.

14. Tell me exactly how those words break the law or are unethical
He's simply telling them that he has to keep everything above board. He encourages them to invest in business in his district and that if they have a legislative agenda, they need to work through the people in his district. If the people in his district support their agenda, then he will support it. He makes no garuntees and warns them about expecting any sort of assurance from him on this. By telling them that, he keeps everything above board and "justified". By the time he's said what you've quoted above, he's explained it 20 different ways already, over and over again. The literally asked him to take the money that many times.

The only dog I have in this fight is not letting another Democrat get smeared with bullshit attacks based on 15-second clips. And that's what you have obviously bought into.

15. I don't recall saying he did anything unethical
I just asked you to share all the information, not just the information that places Jack Murtha in the best light.

Maybe people want the whole truth, not just the bit and piece truth.

17. You are the one taking a single sentence out of context to cast doubt on the fact that Murtha
turned down any sort of bribe. Don't project onto others exactly what you are doing in order to harm Murtha's position.

19. I'm not attempting to cast anything on anyone
I'm saying that YOU can't take one piece of the video to draw a halo around Murtha's head any more than the MSM can take one piece of the video to draw horns and a tail. The video as a whole is the important window into Jack Murtha. Don't try to project any of your issues on to me. You are the defender of Murtha as if he were a saint with no faults. I'm just being a realist. Nobody is a saint.

16. Asshole Tucker ran this story RIGHT AFTER Murtha explained what he said.
Murtha said it was crap that they HAD TO BE DEALING with corruption at this point. Tucker came on with this shit RIGHT AFTER MURTHA EXPLAINED THIS ON TWEETYS SHOW which precedes Tucker. Total irresponsible so-called journalism. About as serious journalism as Entertainment Tonight, maybe less so.

18. YUP... Murhta gave his version of the conversation with
the new congressional members yesterday, and in his version he was saying that dealing with ethics right now is crap, not that Pelosi's new rules are crap.

It's taking a comment or a word totally out of context. Like if someone was talking about the Holocaust and I said "crap". That gets taken out of context to imply that I think the fact there was a Holocaust is "crap", when what I really said was "Crap! I sure wished we could have stopped this from happening!".

Context is everything. Don't believe the MSM. Especially RW pundits and hosts.
