It's hard to watch Katey Couric.
After seeing so many better news anchors, it's painful.

1. Then don't watch her.
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 06:40 PM by NEDem
There are plenty of alternatives. I prefer the fine people at the BBC. Very professional and quite informative.

I've never seen one second of her broadcasts, and no intention of ever doing so. I'd watch Entertainment Tonight for hard news before I'd watch her.

3. I find it impossible.
First time in my life I don't automatically check CBS at 6:30.

9. I sure miss Dan Rather. Her, I haven't watched at all.
I could barely and harldy never watched her on The Today Show. That broadcast a year or so back where she was at some sports event and she jumped up on this Black sports guy like a kid jumps on their poppa only she had her legs wrapped around him and was laughing like a nut. He looked very embarrased and just couldn't get her off of him. I was a bit shocked by her very unprofessional actions.

20. Dan. Dan.
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 08:58 PM by aquart
Oh, Dan.

I always thought he got his job because Cronkite was so furious when they knocked him down in Chicago. It just made him more precious to them all.

I miss Dan, too.

Edited to correct spelling of Cronkite.

13. Except, when Amy speaks of the military, HER bias shows.
I know no organization or institutuion is perfect - far from it - but not everything the military does is bad.

Of course no one is without bias. But I would like to see an example that shows that she believes or espouses the view that "everything the military does is bad" .

21. I think Goodman does a great job.
The military is tough enough to take Amy's tough questions.

I'm a former military person and I think Goodman is one of the few of her profession doing a good job.

I expect a journalist to ask tough questions and not kiss ass.

I don't kiss ass and I don't expect my reporters to kiss ass either!!

Amy Goodman - here's to you! :toast:

Even in the darkest days, a lone sane voice crying in the wilderness of corporate propaganda.

6. I see her by accident once in a while...
way out of her element. I feel embarrassed for her, in some odd way.

but I suppose it's way into the element of the general dumbing down factor.

10. I read she was being given a chance to get her ratings up.
If not-back to lame brain variety shows. (Where she belongs, imo)

11. CBS is married to her because of her contract.
They can't let her go now. Would cost them too much. In short, they're screwed.

12. I think the real shame here
is that Bob Schieffer didn't get Dan Rather's job 20 years ago.

16. Watched her once, the day Ed Bradley died
The sad thing is, I used to watch Bob Schieffer and leave the TV tuned to the local CBS affiliate for local news. Now I need to think about it to turn to them. Otherwise it stays at NBC or ABC affiliates.

17. Really? I thought the reason for signing her was
that she was easy to look at.

Shows how much I know.

I have only watched her Michael J. Fox interview on YouTube, no more.

Darn it, She is perky though.

days. I gave Katey Couric a couple weeks and have tuned out CBS ever since. It puzzles me that Limbaugh lumped her together with Hillary as a wild eyed liberal now she sucks up to the wingnuts.
