If Murtha is Majority Leader then we deserve to KEEP the House
in 2008.

Couldn't resist

All day there have been threads spreading Rethuglican smears of Murtha. Politics, it's not for the faint of heart or for the naive. Murtha got the word out against this war when no other politician (save for Howard Dean) was speaking out against it. Murtha brings military experience to the table now and we need it. He's got no ethical problems except the ones his enemies have contrived. Besides, * doesn't want Murtha...so who better for the job.

2. I agree
for many reasons, not the least of which is the repug machine has geared up to stop this from happening. That, alone, is enough to gain my support.

5. Oh, happy day.

I think Jack will bring his A-game to the party. He LOVES the military. He desperately wants to help save it. It's what drives him as an American. It's who he is. I believe he'll do what needs to be done. I trust him to do the right thing.

6. I Still Think He'd Make A Great Majority Leader And What Happened 26 Years Ago In No Way Changes
that.

Though I do believe the meeting 26 years ago was ethically questionable, I also recognize it as just that: 26 friggin years ago. I don't think an ethical issue from back then should in any way undermine what he's done since, and most definitely shouldn't take away from the courage and leadership he showed by speaking up on Iraq. I think he'll do just fine as majority leader. I'm just not convinced he has enough votes for it. Guess we'll find out soon!

10. I hope he wins
It's Bushco's worst nightmare to have a anti Iraq war Dem, who's a social conservative with strong military experience to become majority leader.

14. I have read countless articles about Murtha and his "ethics problems."
After my first initial reticence about him being Majority Leader, I am now solidly convinced that the post should be his.

Hoyer reminds me of that priggish little kid in school who you always had to watch out for, because he's going to stab you in the back with rumor or innuendo one day. Plus he's a pig at the corporate trough.

(Yes, my grammar/syntax is atrocious. :) )

20. I'm with you. Murtha's been one of the few Dems with

the guts to speak out against the war.

Quick, name 5 other Dems who've done that. (Not counting Dennis Kucinich since he's my avatar.) Can you think of 5, besides Kucinich and Murtha?

Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 10:27 PM by JackORoses
why else would they be coming at him so hard?

are you kidding? they're showing surveillance tape on AC360

they're blowing up an out of context quote about ethics legislation(ala Kerry)

Candy Crowley is on bloviating about how great Hoyer is.

The Repubs are trying to directly influence who the Democratic Majority Leader is.

Fuck that.

John Murtha all the way!

23. And some of us are buying into it, hiding our head in the sand
and saying "gee, maybe we should pick someone the Republicans won't pick on"

If the Repubs feel threatened, then that someone doesn't exist. They'll come up with something.
