Make Up Your Goddamned Minds Already Warmongering Freaks!!!
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 11:41 PM by bigtree

Gen. John Abizaid told House and Senate committees:

"We have every option on the table, all the way from increasing our U.S. combat forces down to withdrawing."

These cretins are still operating on Bush's game plan. Things have changed. If they can't come up with a better answer they should be THROUGH, finished. Come January 2nd . . .

1. They are stalling
the longer it takes, the more oil they can steal. Makes perfect sense to me.

2. I've heard lots of criticism of Dems for waiting for the
Baker plan to be announced instead of coming up with their own game plan.
I am wondering also, but they're a week into getting organized. I hope something
gives soon.

3. I do think it's essential that they force Bush to respond to the voters
who voted to end the occupation. No matter when we leave Iraq will be a failure. It's more than obvious that Bush wants to let the Democrats take responsibility for his fiasco and then blame them as Iraq falls for withdrawing too soon. Politics dictate that they wait for Bush to act first, but it's becoming clear that Bush isn't going to budge. That's where Democrats have to assert themselves. I watched the hearings today and could sense the Democrats chafing as the generals tried to sell them on escalation and stay the course.

January 2nd is the day the Democrats have to take control. No more tolerating blather from these generals. That's when Democrats have to start demanding action and passing legislation to back that up.

5. Yes, bigtree! One question: was Biden vocal today?
I was out of town so don't know.

4. Well, to be fair, they do NOT have the Senate or House .... YET
The lame duck GOP have both chambers for the rest of this Congressional session. The Dems don't take over until January. And the House leadership election hasn't happened yet (it happens today, Thursday).

It's not a bad idea to find points in common with the Study Group's plan, if they can get some advance info on what direction that bunch is headed. That way everyone can play the win-win game. That said, we do need to start hashing out a few ideas of our own, once our housekeeping/leadership elections are finished.
