trent lott proves the repubs are stuck on stupid.
To appoint this racist pig as the number two republican man at this particular time in history is mind blowing at the least, revolting at best, but, this is the party that's run flat out of ideas, which they claim of our party.

trent lott? Now? Why?

1. why not ?
i don't think any of them condemned the racist ad against Harold Ford or George Allen's Macaca remarks. they had no problem with those things.

maybe they are hoping for an angry white man backlash against the Dems to help them win as they did in 1994.

2. if it weren't for racism, they'd have just about nothing left going for them!
it's getting to the point where that's the only thing they have that sells anymore.

3. "trent lott? Now? Why?"
Stupid...but more power to their efforts to destroy their own party! They saw what just happened to Furious George Allen in Virginia of all places and they went right on with their openly racist bullshit yesterday! The GOPers are proud to be racist assholes and it plays to their ever shrinking cracker base!

4. They're back to core values (white racism)
Its all about values, man! ;-)

Why pick an overworn loser to lead a gang of losers? .. because it fits?

5. I love it
Now we can replay the Macaca ad along with 'The Rug's comments at Thurman's party. They're playing them on MSM since last night.

7. It's a pattern...
Republicans claim to be the party of family values, traditional marriages... and yet, almost ALL of their women media pundits are unmarried and childless career women.

Republicans claim to be the party of anti-homosexual agenda, yet many people in their higher ranks are closeted homosexuals, including a number of House members and many in the upper echelons of both congressional and white house staff.

Republicans claim to be a party of diversity and have at least one potential candidate for RNC Chairman who is black (Steele), and yet they seem to be home to some of the most vile racism (former Senator Macaca, Senator "Strom would have been a good President", Katrina, etc, etc - the list of racist actions and people is LONG).

It probably has become second nature to them to be so schizoid. How else could they possibly live in the Orwellian worldview they create every time they open their mouths? War is Peace, Tyranny is Freedom, Reason and science are theories and beliefs, again the list is long).

Denial, denial, denial.

9. Lott was picked for one very good reason (for the gop)
He knows all the rules and tricks of the Senate. He can tie up legislation and fuck with the majority by manipulating the rules. That's the only attractive thing he has for the party.

10. It may have been a message to Bush and Rove too...
Edited on Thu Nov-16-06 09:09 AM by Virginia Dare
They threw Lott under the bus in favor of Fristy boy, and I don't think for a minute he's forgotten it. All that talk about mint juleps on Lott's front porch after Katrina was a dog and pony show...

11. Agreed
It is really quite sad how a 60 year old man (bush) does not have a legitimate friend on the planet. Only those who are bought, only those who are loyal. I'm sure lott doesn't consider him a friend.

14. Did you hear the comment he made at the MLK Memorial...
groundbreaking? He said something about Clinton being his "third or fourth" brother. Third or fourth, those were his words. Bizarre even for him. He operates on some other plane than the rest of us.
