Washington Journal: Dems only...Are you a Murtha or Hoyer person? |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-16-06 07:12 AM by Skidmore
Most people saying Murtha. People taking shots at Carville too.
Edited to add: Rationale in newspaper articles being read for Hoyer selection appears to be that he "raised so much money." My question: Is that what we are going to base our leadership on? Or are we going to support sound ideas?

1. Will he stop raising money for the party? |
|
If he's that petty, well, who wants another Lieberman?

get it over with person...I think they are both probably qualified. Most of the crap in the paper and on the news is there to keep us yelling at each other.
Carville I am upset with. I think the grassroots gaining strength is scaring Carville and friends....they have less to do with who wins and who doesn't I don't see many buying the argument that Dean was a problem.

10. It'll Be Over By Noontime... |
|
The morons make it sound like this is a rare battle. It happens virtually every Congress...if not for the leader, it's for the whip or caucus or committee chairs. The term I like is "housekeeping" is going on.
Personally, I favor Murtha, but if Hoyer wins, I expect the Democrats to join ranks in the House as we all know who the real enemies are.

he's the right guy. As much as i knew bush was the wrong guy the first time i seen him, i know murtha is the right guy for this job.
Kucinich is not available, and a veteran's steady hand is ideal when the electorate has made such a huge vote for an end to expensive optional wars of adventure.
His dalliances with the religious right are not as threatening as not achieving dem objectives these next 2 years.

4. Why The Support for Murtha |
|
Why would the Democratic Party support someone who has as much taint of corruption as Murtha? Haven't you seen the ABSCAN(sp?) tapes. Is the Democratic Party going to show itself to be as corrupt as the Republican Party has? I'd hoped a lesson had been learned, maybe not.

I am a democrat! I don't take part in these silly bickerings. Either would be fine with me. Get it done and get on with it. We have legislation to pass, rich people to tax, and investigations to begin!
We have achieved the first step of taking back OUR country by winning control of congress. We need to reinstate oversight of the executive, congressional ethics, and put a stop to the practice of lobbyists buying influence. Get us the heck out of Iraq, cut the strings to Haliburton and KBR, and start paying attention to the needs of OUR citizens, not the Iraqis, not the Saudis, not the Afghanis. Cut off the firehose spitting out billions of dollars to the defense industry, earmarks, and all these measures of prisoner detention and torture.

15. As of this morning, Murtha. |
|
I've found the alignments of who has declared their support for whom to be bizarre.
Example: I've been salivating for years over the prospect of Henry Waxman having subpeona power and he is supporting Hoyer, members of the CBC are, Van Hollen, and the entire DINO caucus from TN is also.
The newly elected, rather liberal, stand up guy, Steve Cohen (D-TN) is supporting Murtha along with Kucinich and many of my other favs in the House. I've thought about it some more, slept on it again and I hope that Murtha becomes the new leader.
A side bonus would be that Hugh Hewitt's head might just explode later today.
