"Oversight and Accountability" = "no Formal Investigations, no Subpoena" |
|
And Schumer, Rahm pledged to Tim Russert that oversight hearings would not lead to any calls for impeachment, "no matter what, and that's a promise".
No impeachment = no criminal charges either.
This includes Cheney, mind you. People have a one track mind when they could be going after Cheney, not Bush, who is merely a fool. Cheney's ratings are already half those of Nixon's, g*ddamnit!
Also, no impeachment = permanent legalization of Bush wiretapping.
Dems in Congress has basically pledged not to stop them from making it legal, BECAUSE if it stays illegal then Bush and Congress are allowing federal law to be broken by NSA and the phone companies every day.
Thus setting up a constitutional crisis, which makes Congress powerless to stop future presidents from breaking any law passed by Congress --
unless they either (a) investigate criminal activity or (b) vote to legalize Bush's wiretapping.
And they've ruled out (a).
The only other choice is (c) declare that future Presidents can break the law at will, which is even worse than (b)
Moderate Dems have come out and SAID they support a bill to legalize wiretapping... they will only support efforts to legalize the practice "IF it is shown to be legal -- and effective."
Note the Catch-22 here? (Nelson Rockefeller and Hillary said this)
That's what you get when you oppose calling Bush on the constitutional crisis BUSH has set up. Every day Dems do NOT investigate they destroy the power of the legislature in America.

2. This is just so sad. Somebody needs to tell them that they have |
|
to do their constitutional duty first, and let the political chips fall where they may. If they investigate and find that no laws were broken and the constitution was not subverted, then we can all drop it. But we must investigate.

3. I've known it all along. |
|
That's why I continue to voice displeasure and have been so adamant.
