Thousands Turn Out in More Than a Dozen Indonesian Cities to Protest Bush
November 16, 2006

Anti-Bush protests intensify, Indonesian military steps up security

Associated Press -- Protests against U.S. President George W. Bush's upcoming visit to Indonesia intensified Thursday as thousands turned out in more than a dozen cities and the military vowed to maintain order.

The visit comes amid rising public anger over U.S. policy in the Middle East and the U.S.-led invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, seen by many as attacks on Muslims.

Hundreds of students and Islamic activists held separate rallies in Jakarta on Thursday, gathering in front of the U.S. embassy, the presidential palace and the offices of several American businesses, including gold-mining giant Freeport.

Protests were also held in Bogor, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Medan, Banda Aceh, Garut, Gresik, Lampung, Lombok and Sulawesi's towns of Makassar, Pare-Pare and Palu.

Is Bush welcome anywhere?

1. Gee, doesn't anyone....
want to see that barbarian, except his stupid republican supporters? It's amazing how he has turned the entire world upside down. HE NEEDS TO BE IMPEACHED, so that we can prove to the rest of the world that we don't want him or his policies, either.
