1. Well, if it is Hoyer, than the DLC has won along with the media and |
|
the Republicans, all whom have been smearing Murtha and assisting Hoyer. You can forget about anything "real" happening with Iraq too.

7. Murtha smeared himself. |
|
The video evidence is before the world to see. Corruption is one of the prime reasons cited by exit polling for the Democratic wins.

12. The tapes are from 26 years ago. He was never convicted of anything |
|
or even brought up on charges. Could it possibly be that people get smart and change. I don't like the corruption either, but Hoyer is no saint. And it could be argued that Murtha has cleaned up his act. Don't you find it a little odd, that the Republicans are all over this pushing for Hoyer? For me this is about Iraq. The ethics can be worked out later. You have anything recent on Murtha? Nope, I thought not.

22. It's not my place to have "anything". |
|
There is an honest question about lobbying run through his brother. The "ethics later" argument seems much like the "ends justifies the means" argument the Rethugs have been using. The taint of corruption devalues our side, just as it has theirs. It becomes a distraction and deflects the issue. Personally, my choice would be neither. The lack of conviction argument is also used by the thugs, but that is often determined more by who controls the investigation rather than facts or guilt or innocence.

"I'm not interested at this time." How could he say that? I'm not finding guilt, I'm writing of perception.

30. Sorry, rephrasing: Any evidence less than 18 years old? |
|
If the 'evidence' (from 26-27 years ago) is older than millions of voters, I don't know that it's all that relevant.

Otherwise it'll be real obvious that the dems learned NOTHING last Tuesday. Or for that matter, at all.

They're both light-years ahead of the last couple of Senate majority leaders. The Republicans have been wallowing in shit & mud & waste for the last 12 years, and the GOP media is appalled b/c one of our leaders might have a small spot on his tie (but they're not sure).

And she has bucks, clout, gravitas, moxie and the weight of social change behind her. My money is on Pelosi and Murtha in this fight.
When will we know the results of the House vote?

26. Do you see any anti-choice or "pro"marriage crap coming out of this Congress? |
|
It would appear the priorities of this Democratically lead Congress will be investigating the Executive Branch, raising the minimum wage and getting the fuck out Iraqinam. There will be no opportunity for such conflicts of interest as you describe.
Congressional leadership can always be changed following the 2008 election.
