Jesus doll accepted by Toys for Tots

Sounds like "cut and run" to me.

I'm sure Jesus is pleased that they've molded him into cheep plastic, made him pose-able, and shoved a string up his back.

One question though, does the Jesus Doll have non-removable clothing? If not, we know what's going to happen. I'd buy my daughters little Barbie and Ken Dolls, and the next thing you know, you've got naked doll orgies going on all over the house.

Does he come with accessories?

- A wooden cross?
- Hammer and nails?
- Halo?
- Swimsuit?
- Wine Press?

Inquiring minds want to know.

The religiously insane are going to freak when naked Jesus' start showing up all over the place saying "love your fellow man".

2. I wonder what other scripture he quotes
I'm sure it's not:

"Judge not, least you be judged"

"It is more likely for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven"

"When you pray, don't do so in public, like the Pharisees, but go to your room and pray to your father in private."

"He who is without sin, cast the first stone."

95% of children, you give them a doll and in about 5 minutes the clothes come off.

Can't you just imagine them putting Ken's Tuxedo, or jeans, or surfer outfit on Jesus? Hell, if they're like my kids, Jesus will get to model Barbies mini-skirts too.

I see this going very badly.

9. I want a Mark Foley doll!
Or a GWB Flight Suit Doll. Him and Ken are going to find themselves in some "compromising" situations.

11. What happens if you put two of them next to each other?
I hope that doesn't give the Jesi any ideas.

I also have a "Boxing Nun" doll, so that might be a good showdown.

12. Wel I hope whoever forced them to surrender
can deal with the repercussions of marines giving little Muslim children Jesus dolls. How fugging stupid are these crusaders.

13. The Marines Toys for Tots is a wonderful program
and I don't in any way want to denigrate the charitable aspect of it.

What happened is that the coordinators for Toys for Tots refused to accept these Jesus dolls because they didn't think it was appropriate. The fundies bithced and the guy in charge of the program basically through up his hands and said, "I'll waste more time answering reporters questions and hate mail". It wasn't worth the hassle, so they accepted the 8,000 Jesus Dolls.

Funny thing is that I think they also gave Moses Dolls so Jewish children wouldn't be left out. How they square that with the whole "no graven image" thing is beyond me.

Anyway, bottom line is that Toys for Tots is a wonderful way to bring some Christmas cheer American children that won't have a very Merry Christmas. I urge all on DU to pick up an extra toy at the mall and drop it in the Toys for Tots bin.

Screw the fundies. I don't want to give them the satisfaction of ruining something that is an expression of care and compassion for the "have-nots".

14. But don't those dolls all have white skin?
Or is that just the fundie concept of white protestant "political correctness" when it comes to depictions of Jesus?

15. Fundies only promote their myopic vision of the
planet.
