MrToffeeLovesYa said... The fact that Shinseki said we needed more troops in 2003 is really irrelevant at this point, and I'm surprised that Gen. Abizaid would make such an admission.
C'mon liberals, 2003 was almost four years ago. The world has changed since then. The Iraq we know now is much different than the Iraq we knew then, and in the time it takes you to read this, Iraq is changing still.
Democrats want to review and investigate all the decisions made leading into Iraq. But what are they really going to find? Some smoking gun saying "We know there are no WMDs, but this is the best chance we'll have to get rid of Saddam?" If that memo existed, given all the leaks, wouldn't Raw Story have published it by now? It'd be a gold mine for the Democrats. But they haven't, because that memo doesn't exist. Pow!
The best the Democrats can hope for is to find more proof that the Bush Administration ignored some of the advice it was given -- the advice that said don't go to Iraq, Iraq has no ties to Al Qaeda, Iraq doesn't really pose that big a threat, Iraq is contained, Iraq isn't trying to reconstitute its weapons campaign, etc. But so what? A majority of Americans alredy think that the Bush Administration ignored that kind of information -- that's why a majority of Americans voted for Democrats this month. Bam!
Wake up and smell the reality, liberals. The Democrats can only hurt themselves by coming across as a bunch of Keystone Cops, pointing fingers as they investigate and investigate some more. They would be doing the Republicans a favor, yes, by not embarrassing them further, but they would also be doing them a favor by giving Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and all their friends a chance to say, "See, we told you so."
Keep your eyes on the ball, liberal America. The best action is to stay the course, ride the wave, and then point fingers come election 2008. Don't rock the boat by looking back. Ride the wave by looking forward.
The truth is no one wants to be governed by tattletales. They want to be governed by people who can come up with solutions. The ball is in your court, liberal America. You think the Republicans failed. Show them how to play the game right, or take a seat on the bench once again.
