Yesterday, it finally became official: The Dems pulled off a complete shutout over the Republicans, who didn't pick up a single governorship or seat in the House or Senate. This is now certifiably the case because Dem Rep. John Barrow has officially won reelection to his Georgia Congressional seat (though GOP challenger Max Burns could potentially seek a recount). All the remaining undecided races are for GOP-held seats. Incidentally, Georgia was one of the very few fronts where the GOP was eyeing potential pickups, because a recent redistricting made Barrow and fellow Georgia Dem Rep. Jim Marshall vulnerable. Dems have now won both races.

1. I was wondering if they actually picked up any seats

As I posted below the most amazing aspect of this is of course completely ignored by most of the media-the gerrymandering was so systematic and complete that the Dems winning is even more devastating that most will admit.

7. Senslessbrunner in Wisconsin
Survives because of this BS. Dems, in time, should work to de-gerrymander districts so to fairly reflect the electorate.

9. That wasn't a pick up that was a hold
or whatever they are calling it.

Sensenbrenner just held on. They didn't take a single Dem seat anywhere-as far as I know.

18. Correct, you are right, but
He was as good as gone, a Dem pick up, if not for the gerrymandering.

8. Exactly, This Shutout Is Practically A Miracle, It's Stunning
The gerrymandering is pretty much the WORST it's ever been and we STILL kicked their asses, picked up 30 seats and shut them out.

Just imagine how many seats we would have picked up had the districting merely been FAIR.

10. Well I can tell that I know of one that we let walk away
Va-2 Drake and Kellam. He (Kellam) was neck and neck with her until the week before the election when he didn't show up for a series of debates. Some lame excuse about her telling stories about him. :eyes:

He still only lost by 2.84% and this in Va. Beach home to Pat Robertson and the major funding source for all things Republican in Va. Kellam had been a Beach city official (comptroller or something like that).

2. That is it time to fire Dean .... how dare he.
We still have a few more House Seats that look anywhere between good
and a slim chance that we can pick up.

11. Be careful what you wish for
We won this election because of Iraq and a general feeling that the Repukes are scumbags. If we don't get a lot done over the next two years, the voters could flip right back. This is still a 50/50 country, although I think we have a long-term advantage because the average American is closer to our principles than to the greed, racism, class war, and warmongering that passes for "principles" among the fascists.

15. subpoenas, baby
If the corruption, cronyism, incompetence, war profiteering etc. of Bushco is exposed, it will be easy to tar the Republicans as enablers, whitewashers, toadies, even possibly complicit and it will be like shooting fish in a barrel. "Now that we know that Halliburton stole 13 billion dollars, please tell the voters exactly why you called zero oversight hearings while you were committee chairman." Their silence while in office and in positions of power will be deafening and they won't be able to run away from their ties to Bushco.
