Former South Park 'Chef' Isaac Hayes lobbies Congress

Former South Park "Chef" Isaac Hayes is the "latest celebrity-turned-lobbyist," Roll Call reports.

Hayes, composer of the Oscar-winning theme to the 1970s exploitation film Shaft – "the black private dick that’s a sex machine to all the chicks" – stopped by "Capitol Hill this week lobbying on behalf of the recording industry, chatting with Members of Congress about the importance of making sure songwriters and artists such as himself are fairly compensated and all that," Mary Ann Akers writes.

Excerpts from article:

Hayes met with outgoing Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (Tenn.) — why, we have no idea, since Frist has one foot out the door after this seemingly never-ending Congressional session — as well as Reps. Bart Gordon (D-Tenn.), the presumptive chairman of the House Science Committee come January when Democrats take over, and John Conyers (D-Mich.), who’ll become chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

Part of Hayes’ lobbying blitz included talk of the “audio flag” — a big legislative priority for the recording industry and one it apparently hopes to slip through this Congress on some nice bill that will take it for a ride. The industry wants anti-piracy technology embedded in digital audio receivers, while critics — many of them South Park fans? — say it would limit what consumers can do with legally obtained digital music.

1. is this another 2nd hand cut and paste job from rawstory?
presented as a rawstory production from what I see, with NO attribution indicating otherwise, but the full length version is only available thru something called "roll call", which requires a subscription of some kind.
