1. Its not his call. His job is to make sure everyone follows the Speaker's decision

3. The Iraq War is ONE issue...
What of women's reproductive rights? An issue in which Jack Murtha is very much in line with the Republicans.

6. My question is what is his position on the Iraq war, not pro-choice?
The election was very clear that Americans want us out of Iraq

I am pro-choice, but at this stage of the game that should have been addressed in 2000, and definitely 2004 when the party itself was afraid to confront that issue.

If we don't address Iraq, and 2008 rolls around, a woman's right to choose will be in even greater peril because we may fail to win the majority in 2008

The only saving grace I see is that it was young people and women who actually turned the election our way

4. Hoyer on Iraq:
Hoyer, by contrast, has cautioned against moving too quickly in Iraq, telling MSNBC-TV on Monday: “You can transfer authority to the Iraqis ... but we need to do so in a way, hopefully, that will not create greater carnage.”

That's different than the Bush position how?

5. He REFUSED to sign Murtha's Redeployment Resolution.
IMCPO...that means he wants more of the same.

9. That was my question, and you answered it
One of the main reasons we won the midterm was Iraq, and most Americans want us out, if you believe the polls

If we don't address that then in 2008 we can forget about it

11. Steny is, as far as I can tell, the democratic version of a Neocon

Solidly lined up with the other Dem Neocons, the DLC. And they don't think the war was wrong (but many have been forced to say it or other weasel words like "Bush did it wrong" implying that they would have gone to war but would have "done it better").

And they don't want to "create MORE chaos" by leaving right away, we must "stabilize" Iraq first... which, to me, is "stay the course" and "complete the mission".

Folks, it's 1968, and the Democrats have picked as their number two, someone that wants to achieve "Peace with Honor".

It all sickens me. Our party, which won the election because people want us to get the hell out of Iraq, now shows up with something like 160 member majority that don't have the guts to move on this...

We won't be leaving Iraq anytime soon. And Speaker Pelosi will likely only be Speaker for two short years.

12. I think you may be right:
"We won't be leaving Iraq anytime soon. And Speaker Pelosi will likely only be Speaker for two short years."

I am concerned that even with the election just eleven days ago I don't see much change coming with this Congress.

Pelosi seems to be too self-centered for me.
