We may have disagreed a tad on Majority Leader, but our
speaker has massive support. Go Nancy! Madame Speaker-elect. I just love that line.

1. Disagreement is a good thing - discussion is vital for a democracy.
Perhaps the rethugs and other Americans can watch from this example as the Dems move on.

Welcome to DU!

3. All in all neither if the men we had
to choose from is a crook, lier, or con-man. They are pretty straight forward.

She was elected unanimously, but her first assertion of authority was rebuffed. Some are saying that she knew this was going to happen with Murtha and it was for show and to demonstrate loyalty etc.. Maybe so, but to me that kind seems like one of those black is white arguments. On its face it demonstrates a lack of authority, divided leadership. I worry that this majority is going to be divided into factions.

Listening to African American talk shows in Detroit worries me too in this regard. There seems to be more concern for crap like whether Alcee Hastings is chair of the Intelligence Committee or that there are x number of African Americans on committee staffs than there is that we have an effective majority. What the hell is making that top priority going to accomplish? Is that going to raise the minimum wage for people? Is that going to give health care to people who don't have it? I agree that there should be adequate representation for all groups and I can certainly understand the lack of political trust African American Democrats have for the DLC types that I suspect will want to assert themselves in powerful positions here. Why not unite behind the Speaker and then hold her accountable to deliver rather than divy up the spoils to each individual faction? She's not DLC. She's our best shot for change that matters to working people.
