Bush wants more troops for Iraq - where will he get them
from? His clone factory in the basement of the White House?

"President George Bush has told senior advisers that the US and its allies must make "a last big push" to win the war in Iraq and that instead of beginning a troop withdrawal next year, he may increase US forces by up to 20,000 soldiers, according to sources familiar with the administration's internal deliberations.
Mr Bush's refusal to give ground, coming in the teeth of growing calls in the US and Britain for a radical rethink or a swift exit, is having a decisive impact on the policy review being conducted by the Iraq Study Group chaired by Bush family loyalist James Baker, the sources said.

Although the panel's work is not complete, its recommendations are expected to be built around a four-point "victory strategy" developed by Pentagon officials advising the group. The strategy, along with other related proposals, is being circulated in draft form and has been discussed in separate closed sessions with Mr Baker and the vice-president Dick Cheney, an Iraq war hawk.

Point one of the strategy calls for an increase rather than a decrease in overall US force levels inside Iraq, possibly by as many as 20,000 soldiers. This figure is far fewer than that called for by the Republican presidential hopeful, John McCain. But by raising troop levels, Mr Bush will draw a line in the sand and defy Democratic pressure for a swift drawdown."

Why do all Bush's "plans" for America sound bad to me? Could it be the aftermath of Katrina? Could it be because 9/11 happened on his watch? Could it be because he's bungled Iraq? Could it be because he bungles everything he touches?

I don't trust the man. Therefore I resent the idea of giving him more troops to kill.

All in all, this is more of the same. The Republicans are acting like Democrats never won the majority. Same old thug tactics everywhere. This seems to be just one more example.

2. Bush is going to have to pull those extra troops out of his butt, because
there simply aren't that many available. He has squandered that American resource as well. Now new signups are few and far between, because NO ONE wants to go to that hell known as Iraq. Everything Bush touches turns to shit, including recruiting and military service.

3. President Bush calls up JROTC.
Edited on Thu Nov-16-06 02:52 PM by longship
In the top of the news this morning, President Bush issued an executive order to tap into the large JROTC organization to support the war on terror. Thousands of high school students will be effected. Calling it "the patriotic duty of all citizens" Bush announced that JROTC recruits will begin shipping out to Iraq within 14 days with a total of ten to twenty thousand scheduled to arrive in Iraq before the end of the year.

10. Not to mention the fact that they're completely INSANE!!
You're right - not really good troop material. But it would be SOOOO satisfying to see them shipped over for a 4 year tour, eating expired Halliburton food and drinking dirty Halliburton water.

9. Draftees from Free Republic
They can wear their Bring It On, Islamofascists tshirts. Drop the suckers in Sadr City, round midnight. After the hacking ends, the Iraqis might be sick of bloodshed, and we solve TWO problems.

12. I wondered why the membership rolls over at Freepland
were getting thin. Word has leaked out about the new program - post and ship. The newest lock-step way to support the Bush agenda! It would be so appropriate a program - far too on the mark for someone as incompetent as Bush.
