Fox News Revolt: Smith Says Bush Politicization Of Iraq War Strategy ‘Disgusting’

The Pentagon announced today that 2,200 Marines have been ordered into the Iraqi province of Al-Anbar, “where fierce fighting has claimed at least 21 U.S. servicemembers this month.”

Reacting to the Pentagon announcement, Shephard Smith said “no one should be surprised by any of this” because it “was clear before the election that changes were essential.” But Smith pointed out, “They had to wait until after the election to make changes for political reasons, which I find disgusting.”

3. They're worried about ratings.
Supporting all that Bush propaganda drivel has driven their ratings down and cost them $$$. And wouldn't I just love to seem them hemhorage profits until they're so far in the hole they can't spout Bush propaganda anymore!

9. Didn't he do an interview with Bill Kristol a couple of months ago
in which Kristol told him he thinks Bush will "do the right thing" and send more troops, but would wait until after the election to do it? I think the interviewer was Shepard Smith. He seemed taken aback that Kristol would say such a thing. I don't know why he's shocked by this. Hasn't he been paying attention?

12. he was shocked then, now he's disgusted
I believe this has been an honest reaction from Smith. I hope he'll continue to distance from Bushco.

11. If Shepard Smith takes a really hard look, he might find other examples where actions/
non-actions of life and death consequences have been timed for political reasons.

14. A similar thing happened in "04
The military waited on action in Fallujah until after the election. Its a symptom of the times we live in-wag the dog and all the that.

The irony is, when Clinton launched Desert Fox during the Monica time, pugs jumped all over him for pulling a political military distraction.

The ultimate irony is Desert Fox worked, but too well. It destroyed alot of nuclear& WMD capability, but it also scared Human intelligence resources on the ground, so we had no way of nknowing how effective the attacks were...which led us to where we are today
