Feingold: We Should Challenge Generals Whose ‘Assessments…Were Wrong'
from Thinkprogress:

On MSNBC today, Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) contended that the generals who have been in charge in Iraq, particularly Gen. John Abizaid and Gen. George Casey, should be challenged on their current recommendations to stay the course.

Feingold noted that he has traveled to Iraq for two years in a row to meet with these generals and solicit their predictions about violence in Iraq. “Their assessments of what was going to happen were wrong. They were wrong about how things were going to improve,” he said. “I think is a mistake and really an affront to the American people, who want us to show them that we can get out of Iraq and redeploy intelligently,” he added.

Getting Rumsfeld out was essential, but only the first step in attacking the taint and disease.

Feingold has always spoken freely and I look forward to a whole lot more of it from him and others not cautiously "campaigning" for 08.

5. I think they should be put on trial for war crimes, frankly
German courts are already handling cases dealing with Rumsfeld and others such as Alberto. I don't see a problem in expanding the case to include the general staff.

6. Works for me
I saw bits and pieces of Abazaid testifying yesterday, I think it was, and he was disgusting. So apparent he was still carrying water for Bush. I saw his reply to McCain that he's NOT advocating "stay the course" when he'd frankly just finished advocating stay the course.
