Some animals are more equal than others...
In Orwell's ANIMAL FARM the creed that all animals are equal is corrupted over time to "all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others."

I'm amused that at Democratic Underground we now get to decide which Democrats are more equal than others.

Steny Hoyer is the stting Democratic Whip and, as of noon today, the incoming DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY LEADER in the House.

Yet people continue to post attacks on him here, even after the election was held. Before the election, that's one thing. But these posts are now just attacks on our sitting leadership.

Posts alleging that Nancy Pelosi is a horrid Republican whore of some sort would be locked in a minute, but similar posts about our majority leader are no problem. (I assume admins are granting a grace period to let it die down, but it's pretty ugly.)

1. Fercryinoutloud, the election was a couple hours ago.
I'm a fascist, but I'm not THAT fascist. This issue is following the normal DU lifecycle. It'll die out on its own soon enough.

3. How does this relate to Orwell at all?
People are criticizing the opinions of politicians. So far, I haven't seen anyone suggesting that Hoyers shouldn't have the same rights that they have.
