November, 1974. The GOP got their butts handed to them in the midterms, thanks in large part to the taint of Watergate. (Actually, many GOP supporters were happy to see Nixon go, but that's another story).

Did the Republicans cry in their milk and lock themselves in their bedroom? No. Give the bastards credit: they picked themselves up, dusted themselves off, and went right to work planning to take control of Washington. This was the time that the Karl Roves and the Lee Atwaters and the conservative think tanks began to get organized. Ronald Reagan in 1980 and Bush in 2000 were the biggest fruits of the well-organized, long-term GOP progaganda and dirty tricks campaigns.

The same thing may be happening today. I'm seeing some disturbing "lets stop trying to win in the south anymore" threads pop up suddenly -- and this is in the wake of impressive Democratic gains in the south, just last week! Other people are posting "Democrats are not sticking up for gay rights; lets start another party" type of threads. Gee, funny thing to post on a site designed mostly for Democrats.

The GOP dirty tricksters are like the Terminator: just when you think they're dead, they keep popping up, again and again, trying to get at ya.

1. The N-ational E-ffort O-n C-reating O-nly N-erdy S-hysters (neocons).........
can and should never be trusted, they're ALWAYS plotting and planning their NEXT overthrow of democracy, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the economy, political control and last BUT NOT least, the middle class.

2. Where are you see the gay/third party posts?

No doubt you're seeing a lot of LGBT DUers (myself included) complaining long and hard about what the Dems haven't done for us, and probably never will do, but who's actually pushing for a third party? Do you think we're nuts?

If that's really your impression, read some of the comments in this thread:
