STENY HOYER coming up on Ed Schultz Show. |
|
Talking about Helen Thomas now (Schultz is in Washington this week.)
Schultz says the mood in Washington is "definitely against impeachment."
He said the key to look at was Jay Rockefeller's investigations of wiretapping on the Intel committee.
What Schultz did not say is, Rockefeller said in mid-2006 that he was not completely opposed to illegal wiretapping of ALL AMERICANS if a legal justification could be made and if someone would prove to him that it was "effective".
In other words, they don't see what Bush is doing right now as flouting the law, and they're not gonna stop it.
If they tried, they'd have a constitutional crisis and confrontation of that level is off the table.

2. Rockefeller is a huge disappointment........ |

his vote on the Military Commissions Act took alot of the respect I had built up for him. And now that Hoyer is using his vote as a bell-weather, my confidence in this incoming Congress is becoming tenuous.
