I kicked the shit out of a Walmart employee today
The nasty wench wished me Happy Holidays so I knocked her in the head with my wrapping paper I purchased and then I threw my bows at her--one by one.
Didn't she get the MEMO that they were SUPPOSED to say Merry Christmas this year????
Sheesh. Sheer incompetence.;)

In fact, I think it would be a very good idea to boycott WalMart just on GP (general priciple). Afterall, there are no other places to shop, as BlackVelvet04 says below, because of WalMart.

I'm just sick and tired of having every damn thing dictated to me by corporate America.

12. There is always somewhere else to shop
one might have to plan a bit more (as they have certainly gutted main street America), but I have real trouble accepting the concept that Wal Mart is the only store on the planet.

16. Well actually it is for me
It is the lesser of two evils. They have run everyone else in town out of business (live in a town of less than 3000 people).
The closest place is 70 miles round trip.
So do we line the pockets of the Chinese or the Saudis?
Tough decision.

18. Accept it. In some places, it is the only option.
If I don't want to shop at WalMart, I can drive 40 miles to a town that has a WalMart and a K-Mart, not really a significant improvement. To have other options, I have to drive 75 miles each way. It's not just me. There are 35,000 people in this county for whom that's true.

As much as I loathe WalMart, I have to admit our experience here was the opposite of what I hear from so many others. The opening of the WalMart actually revitalized the town's business district. With people coming in from this county and a couple others to shop, quite a few boutique businesses have opened and thrived. When WalMart first opened, the economy here was severely depressed and farm foreclosures were happening left and right. Most of the folks who went to work at WalMart were a second income for their family and often it was enough to save them financially so they didn't have to lose everything.

I'm not saying that to defend WalMart. I think their practices are abhorrent. But like most things, it isn't entirely black and white. There's some gray area there.

4. Some people shop at Wal-Mart because there is nowhere else to shop
within a reasonable driving distance.

7. As a good Christian I asked myself - Where would Jesus shop?
Would he buy online?
How much money would he spend?
What kind of plasma TV would Jesus get?
Why are you celebrating my birthday in a month I wasn't born in?
Has this holiday become too material? Oh never-mind, he would never ask that. :)

Target Giving $1M to Salvation Army, but Bell Ringers Still Banned

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

MINNEAPOLIS — Target Corp. (TGT) is slipping $1 million into The Salvation Army's kettle, but it still won't allow the familiar holiday bell-ringers in front of its stores.

This will be the third year that Target has banned the bell-ringers from its stores. But Salvation Army spokeswoman Melissa Temme said other changes could make up much of the $9 million the charity used to raise each year in front of Target stores.

Besides the cash donation, Target will donate the profits from a $9.99 Salvation Army ornament that is hitting store shelves this week, Temme said. It will also put a link on its Web site to accept Salvation Army donations.

"We expect it to be successful. We don't know what to expect as far as the ultimate monetary gain," Temme said. "But we know that this will enable us to help more people simply because we'll be bringing in more money."

22. That's AWESOME!
I hate those freaking bell ringers. They are annoying and more than one of them has been rude as hell. I HATE WalMart during the Christmas season for that reason...oh and for the fact that the idiots who shop there do not think beyond the tip of their noses. I can relax and shop and have a good time at Target. I cannot do that at WalMart.

34. I don't think so...
The Salvation Army lost $9 Million vs the $1Million Target gave them. Target should have donated $10 Million to make up for the loss.

14. I couldn't resist
OT though, I got my Christmas tree all decorated. It is a very large tree and it was PERFECT.
Anyways, was in the kitchen cooking and cleaning and my granddaughter was in the living room and said she was playing with her blocks and watching TV.
When I went into the living room she had completely undecorated my tree--at least the bottom 3 feet all the way around, lol.
So now I have a pile of decorations on the coffee table that I must re-annoint the tree with--and I am not in the mood to do it now, lol.
Gotta love it.:)

LOL. Seriesly!
I have to work on Thanksgiving, so I have postponed Thanksgiving until that Saturday.
We leave the state on the 18th--so I really wanted to enjoy my tree.
This is the last year all of us will be living under one roof so I wanted to make it a little special.:)

Oh I guess everyone knows that was "Thanks for giving us all your land", so why not just overlook it?

Christmas displays before Halloween? There ought to be a law.
