More rumors: Bush Boozin' Again
Saw this quoted on Woolcott's blog today.

Rumours persist here (and I have heard them repeated at a very senior level in the UK, too) that Bush has actually resumed drinking; I throw this into the mix not to sensationalise, but because I have now heard the rumour repeated at a sufficiently high level that I believe we must face the possibility that it might be true.

Bush was huddled inside the White House eating beef and ice cream on election night with Rove, my friend Josh Bolten, and four other trusted aides who will stick with him to the end. He was not drinking on this occasion, I'm assured - but, more than ever, my depiction of an unstable man living out his final days in office inside his bunker seem no longer to be fanciful. Hemmed in by Democratic foes wherever he looks, determined to be remembered in history as an unwaveringly strong leader, and increasingly detached from reality: now that suddenly becomes a very frightening vision indeed.

5. Yeah, now that he is drinking, so we suspect, we can drink too...
of course, we be pouring bubbly and he Vodka or Bean...whatevers around...

That would explain his failure to open doors to Peace, China

3. Fascinating
if true. But it is just a rumor and should be treated as such. That means without proof, it don't mean squat.

22. Putin got him drinking just before the G-8
Stupid was obviously blotto at the G-8, something everybody who's ever lived with an alcoholic recognized instantly. We also recognized the look on Putin's face across the banquet table, that combination of astonishment and alarm at how quickly an alcoholic gets drunk on relatively little alcohol.

I think they kept him on a short leash during the election. He's off the leash now because it's bad juju to have a head of state show up with nannies snatching drinks out of his hand at state functions in foreign countries.

7. You know that 2nd paragraph sounds eerily familiar....
I almost think he's more dangerous "sober" than he is drunk.

9. Makes sense
According to Bush On The Couch, Pres. Jackass is a "dry drunk"; someone who's never been treated for their alcoholism. They deal with the addiction by becoming obsessive about other things. In Duh-bya's case, exercise, etc.

C'mon- how many times has the guy had a facial injury in the last few years? I've been mountain biking and rock climbing for 15 years and I've never injured my face- not once. I've busted up my hands, my arm, my legs... but never my face.

When your family is super wealthy, and in with the power brokers of this country, the media gets really "polite" about what it will and will not cover.

16. Indeed, the facial injuries are just weird
I have a scar on my forehead from when I walked into a telephone pole, blacked-out drunk, about a week before I got sober, many years ago.

Just sayin'.

15. I don't think he has resumed drinking. He's been drunk or
high on something ever since he took office. Nobody sober has such incoherence when talking no matter how bad their grammar is.
