51 Species of Animals Who Engage in Homosexual Activity on Display!
Yep. . .watch the American fundy heads explode when they read this latest article. The Natural History Museum in Oslo, Norway, has an exhibit featuring some 51 species of animals which engage...not only in homosexual "activity" but who PRACTICE it in full view of the animal kingdom public!

While no one in the theocratic States of America will hold their breath waiting to see a traveling version of this exhibit, it appears that homosexual contact is rather rampant in the animal kingdom - in fact, among giraffes it can be as common as that pesky child-producing dance of the heteros. . .

From male killer whales that ride the dorsal fin of another male to female bonobos that rub their genitals together, the animal kingdom tolerates all kinds of lifestyles.

A first-ever museum display, "Against Nature?," which opened last month at the University of Oslo's Natural History Museum in Norway, presents 51 species of animals exhibiting homosexuality.

"Homosexuality has been observed in more than 1,500 species, and the phenomenon has been well described for 500 of them," said Petter Bockman, project coordinator of the exhibition.

The idea, however, is rarely discussed in the scientific community and is often dismissed as unnatural because it doesn't appear to benefit the larger cause of species continuation.

umm...and I kinda like this part:

However, species continuation may not always be the ultimate goal, as many animals, including humans, engage in sexual activities more than is necessary for reproduction.

"You can make up all kinds of stories: Oh it's for dominance, it's for this, it's for that, but when it comes down to the bottom I think it's just for sexual pleasure," Wolfe told LiveScience.

It's time for the men of the Concerned Women for America to start writing massive emails demanding this research continue to be repressed. . .

1. have heard that pigeon males are often homosexual
sorry, don't know the source for this factoid. Just from my own observations, I would say the male cat I had as a kid seemed pretty much bisexual until he was "fixed". Wouldn't Republicans blow a fuse if the family dog, Spike, had a hankering for Ole Yeller, rather than Lassie?

2. Sometimes I feel like writing a children's book for fundies
called: "Where do Fundy babies come from?" and use pictures of the white baby Jesus doll with the biblical sayings being distributed by Toys For Tots. Inside, I would carefully illustrate how all fundy mothers are never truly touched by their fathers, but that their children are immaculate conceptions just like the Virgin Mary. . .

er. . .maybe I shouldn't mention that kind of an idea - it's probably not a good notion to give the wingnut branch of christianity any more thoughts on how they can glorify themselves.

3. My dog was rather same-sex oriented....
Edited on Thu Nov-16-06 11:42 PM by flying_monkeys
He was licked constantly by my other male dog *there* and when I introduced an abandoned female dog to my household, he barked in the yard loudly "ROWWWT! ROWWWT! ROWWWWWWWWWT!!!!!!" (translation - - r- OUT!)

She went into heat several times and he never showed a smidge of interest.... At best, he tolerated her existence through-out his lifetime....

Now, another male (not the licker) was ALWAYS hot and heavy after that female, so she didn't have "universal cooties" or anything (and she even ended up having puppies).... It was weird to have a female in heat and have to keep one male away but let the other have free access since he had zippy interest....

(Yeah, "homosexuality" happens in dogs, too)
