Should we taser rather than spank our kids to assure there is no bodily harm done?
Just a question based on the discussions going on here today and tonight.

Hey, there's no bruises, right? That way no one can take you to court.

Unless you had the misfortune of getting caught on camera.

I've been against the taser since it became obvious that if a person with a heart condition or doing a coke-like drug had a good chance of dying when tasered. And don't get me started on the stories about elementary aged kids getting zapped.

Sorry, I'm sure there's a lot of really good cops out there, but there's still too damn many out there who are inclined to become judge and jury on the spot and administer what they feel will be punitive measures without the possibility of repercussion.

1. Just as long as ya don't breast feed 'em,
everything will be fine.

Seriously though, we should take them things away from the cops, and especially take them away from security guards and mall cops.

2. Our kids probably
deserve deserved being tasered, you know. Who knows what could happen if those kids are not disabled. A parent has to protect him/herself. Heck, if a kid is lying on the ground, screaming while being tasered for the 4th or 5th time, who am I to say a word? After all, I never saw what that kid did to deserve tasering in the first place.

In case you didn't notice, that's sarcasm on my part.

3. An excellent idea!
Let's kill the kids. That is far less psychologically damaging than a spanking. :eyes:

5. We should just taser anyone who irritates us
13 items in the 12 item lane. -- TASER 'EM

Someone talking in the theater -- TASER 'EM

Somene gets the homerun ball instead of you -- TASER 'EM

They get the PS3 ahead of you -- TASER 'EM

Someone takes the last piece of cake -- TASER 'EM

See...there are many good and valid oppotunities to use a taser on someone.

*This message brought to you by the American Taser Manufacturers Association, reminding you that 'When in doubt, whip that taser out. And TASER 'EM!'

16. Well with the cops it's already almost that bad!
They taser 5yr olds now for "refusal to comply" and the police dept and the judges had no problem with it.

8. I watched the Nick Berg video all the way through...
when he was beheaded he made a similar shriek as the young man tasered in the video. I think that gives a good estimate to the pain tasering a person causes. We are allowing cops to torture their victims.

9. Spanking and Tasering are not comperable
Tasering is meant to subdue. Spanking is meant to humiliate.

12. It seemed to have the exact opposite effect...
from what I watched and heard in the video. I dare say the fella was screaming for his life.

17. The UCLA tasing wasn't meant to subdue.
Edited on Fri Nov-17-06 04:58 AM by pnwmom
It was meant to be painful, and to humiliate. While delivering repeated shocks that locked up the student's muscles and immobilized him, the police screamed over and over to stand up. They also lay him over the stairs, according to a graduate student eyewitness, and shocked him in the buttocks.

It was a power trip and they were putting on a big show for all the students there.
