Maybe it's learned helplessness or something, but I keep imagining
scenes like this:

It's August 2007.

Democratic Congressional investigations have turned up all kinds of filthy & illegal Republican/Corporate dealings.

They turn up proff that the 2000, 2002 & 2004 elections were flat-out stolen.

They discover that Cheney has secretly remained in control of Halliburton, and personally authorized the sale of nuclear weapons to Iran & North Korea.

Conyers finds baby skeletons in the White House basement with letter openers bearing the Presidential seal in their little ribcages.

The media give absolutely no coverage to any of these events. The big story on network news is "John Kerry Flubs Another Joke."

Then what? I mean, what if the Dems cannot get their message out, no matter what they do? What if the press simply ignores them?

1. Then they do an end run around the national press by
directing the Congresscritters to use their time at home to push the Dem message in every possible venue and local media outlet.

2. Amazing how fast anxiety returns after last week's celebration
I know exactly what you mean. Just try to hold on to the good feelings for a litle longer Jackpine -- you'll be strengthened for the struggles ahead.

5. We don't need a liberal media, we need to get out the word
and force the MSM to pick it up. Keith O is fantastic as is Jon Stewart.

7. Yes We Do. The Reich Wing Media Muzzles Democrats and Always Will
The media was doing it when the Democrats controlled both houses and the Presidency back in 1993-1994.
Right wing control of the media has only gotten worse since then.

The election results, as wonderful as they were, do not change this in any way.
Though it will be possible (AND NECESSARY!) next year for Congress to investigate the media.

8. Right to carry what - birth control pills?
Or will they still be outlawed. I am amused by gun advocates. This state has always had the right to carry. No effect on anything.

But eliminate women's right to carry birth control, you will see action.

12. That's being cut into from both sides
everything is being cut into from both sides and frankly, I'm going to be sweating it out the next two years. I'm beginning to think that the people coming back in body bags are the lucky ones.

13. A Democratic Congress reinstitutes the FAIRNESS Doctrine.
Even the GOP minions realize the situation is dire and override the Dunce's veto.

All is revealed, and life gets better.

14. I believe the mainstream corporate media is realizing its obsolescence is showing.
They whored shamelessly for the GOP, and for a little while after 9-11 it worked for them, and yet, eventually, thanks to the Internet, the truth got out and U.S. voters became disgusted. They know we don't need their corporate filter anymore and they are trying to figure out what to do.
