Edwards Acknowledges Wal-Mart Gaffe
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/11/16/D8LEJIOO0.html

John Edwards _ a vocal critic of the retailer _ asked his local Wal- Mart store for help in getting the potential 2008 presidential candidate a Sony PlayStation 3. Edwards said a volunteer did so by mistake.

Edwards told The Associated Press that the volunteer "feels terrible" about seeking the game unit at Wal-Mart a day after his boss criticized the company, saying it doesn't treat its employees fairly.

"My wife, Elizabeth, wanted to get a Playstation3 for my young children. She mentioned it in front of one of my staff people," Edwards said. "That staff person mentioned it in front of a volunteer who said he would make an effort to get one. He was making an effort to go get one for himself.

"Elizabeth and I knew nothing about this. He feels terrible about this. He made a mistake, and he knows he should not have used my name," Edwards said.

No biggie...or maybe he's into Halo 2.

It's OK John, really, there's a huge gamer community;)

3. Boy WalMart jumped on that quickly!
I hope that they give that WalMart employee a $1 bonus for confirming it was an Edwards staffer and reporting it to the Home Office. AttaBoy!

5. Now I'm afraid to go to Wal-mart. What if they squeal on me? I used to kind of
wear a hat and rationalize that it was on the way home, and I didn't have time to drive somewhere else, but if they are going to be spreading it around, I don't want to take the chance.

6. Now *THAT'S* how to handle those 'human' moments
that we all have, even Kerry too!
Edwards would be a great President, I think. He's smart as hell, successful, a populist progressive, and talks about poverty and labor issues.

8. There is no requirement that a critic of a company boycott it,
...and so I don't see the big deal.

12. Oh come on...
When you're one of their most visible national figures that has been railing against WalMart policies it is a big deal. We're the party that's been against hypocrisy remember? This is blatant hypocrisy, although unintentional according to Edwards and I have no reason to doubt him. I can't see him or his wife shopping WalMart.

I've been in that "overly enthusiastic supporter" place before...sometimes that can do more harm than good for a public figure.
