An update on George's wood in Crawford
Anybody remember back during the debates when lame duck George asked Kerry if he needed any wood? That got a lot of laughs at the time.

Was just poking around at Open Secrets Org and discovered that in 2005 precise George listed as an asset, "inventory - cost of trees" at $548,619 on his required financial disclosure form.

This exact number seems a bit weird as all the other assets (mostly cd's and treasury notes) are listed at $1 to $1000, $1000-$15,000, $15,000 to $50,000, $50,000 to $100,000, $100,000 to $250,000, $250,000 to $1,000,000 etc.

Numerical strangeness aside, $548,619 is a lot of wood. Lumberjacks need not apply, it's not that kind of wood.

More like a giant tree nursery. Back in 2001 twenty or so acres were planted with live oak seedlings. The plan was and is that right around early 2008 this planting will be ready for harvest/transplant. 7-9 foot tall live oak trees from the Crawford White House for only $299 each, two for $499, freight not included. Imagine, the ultimate republican tree growing in your own yard. Free flag with every purchase during the next hour.

Farmer George has a 50-50 partnership deal on this marketing project. Somebody else thought of selling special trees and approached him.

Wonder who is going to ball the trees in the burlap dirt bags? Hope they have a green card.
