At Gitmo!

The Pentagon plans a Military Commissions compound at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, costing up to $125 million, a major undertaking meant to accommodate up to 1,200 people at the Navy base for the first U.S. war crimes trials since World War II, The Miami Herald learned Thursday.

If funded by Congress, it would be the largest single construction expenditure at Guantánamo since the Bush administration set up the offshore detention and interrogation center in January 2002.

No Defense Department official would speak about the project with his or her name attached.

But one Pentagon insider with knowledge of the plan said officials envision the fast-track construction of a major compound at an abandoned airfield that in the 1990s housed a tent camp for Cuban rafters. Years before it had been a dirigible hangar for U.S. military blimps.
------------

Maybe soon we can put THEM on trial there!

Otherwise we couldn't afford this.

3. I support this...They will need a place to hold all of the Neo-Cons for War Crimes Trials
until the Hague Invasion Act is repealed.

4. But I'd rather see them held in cages and tents, not the
Ritz Carlton of detention facilities. We have too many people with a low level of food security for this kind of spending spree.

5. I really wish the military would stop feeling so free to spend my tax dollars
really. I can think of thousands of better uses for the money than to give it to the military.

6. Gee, I wonder who will get the contract for that project?
My money (in more ways than one) is with the folks from Halliburton.

10. yeah, they want to try Gitmo taxi drivers and goatherds for war crimes.
Certainly they should have the billions necessary to cover up their own crimes and fry a bunch of patsies. That way it looks like they accomplished something.

Right?

Right?

two wrongs make a Rightie. Heard it on the radio this morning.
