First, I think Stephie let him get away with a lot but then, again, I don't think Stephie is such an "insider" to completely understand the subleties of this argument.

Second, we've heard this argument before and, in some regards, it's a replay of the struggle going on in some state party organizations. It boils down to this:

Is the Democratic Party going to be run/controlled by the Party Organization itself based on a grass-root, bottom-up structure which would reflect the views of the rank-and-file, or, will the party be directed/controlled/run by the elected officials and the campaigns be run by their individual organizations?

It's going to be a rough battle.
