Contractors VS Mercenaries
It really makes me angry when the media called the kidnapped people "contractors" instead of what they really are, "mercenaries". You put a bow on a pig, its still a pig. It makes them sound like they are woodworkers or brick masons by calling them contractors. Just call them what they really are, HIRED KILLERS.

1. I don't have quite as black a view of them as that
But still - if you are a security contractor you have to expect a certain amount of risk don't you?

5. There was a video a long time ago
(years?) that circulated the internets...

Mercs in a convoy driving down some streets in Baghdad. There was other traffic, probably people just going about their business, but these asshole Mercs started shooting at any vehicle that came too close to them. The video was shot from inside the humvee they were driving and looking back wards. I have no sympathy for the Mercs that are there.

3. Technically they are 'privateers'.
If they are americans employed by the american government then they are privateers (private soldiers) not mercenaries (foreign hired guns.)

But that is a mere technicality. I agree with your point. The bullshit continues unabated.

It would be interesting to know what our body count is including mercenaries. I suspect it is way higher than 3000.
