Wanna guess who's idea this is? Who will be making money off of this deal? Thought we had plenty of jails, prisons, court rooms, judges, etc. to conduct legal proceedings right here in the US, why would we need to build more unless there is still some unclaimed no-bid contracts that need to be handed out by the BFEE.

*I posted this earlier but for some reason it disappeared down the rabbit hole. Sorry if it turns up to be a dupe.

Then it can accomodate 1200 soldiers while Jeb leads an invasion, whoops, I mean, humanitarian relief effort - hasn't he stated recently that Florida is "preparing" for that event?

And as far as trials of terrorists go, since any acts for which they would be tried did not take place in Cuba - how will any defendants be able to bring in witnesses? Not to mention the costs/inconvenience for any of the civilian lawyers who have volunteered to defend them pro bono. The Hague would be available.

4. $5 million to build, $120 million to grease palms and buy favors
That sounds about right.

Republican accounting makes Mafia accounting look childish.

8. Can contracts that have been let before the change of majority
be examined after January? I'm not sure exactly how government contracts work.

I've done three small government contracts but I had to jump through more hoops, bend over backward, genuflect before the Government Contract Gods just to get the little bit of work that I did (approx $50,000 for each of three contracts) and still came away feeling that somehow I would be responsible for personally bankrupting DC with each job.

I hope that this contract and thousands of more just like them are giving the googly eye after the fiscally responsible Dems take the reins in the upcoming future.

10. What a joke.
The upside is we can use the facilities to prosecute the war profiteers and corporate criminals who are the real sources of terror and corruption that afflict our country. I'd say that room for 1200 would be about right to really clean up this country.
